Fallout 3 mods

Yeah the recovering Wasteland mod is great, it is a while since the bombs dropped! it shouldn't look quite as bad as it does. Add Taking Out The Trash as well and it is just about the right level.

The Restoring wasteland is a bit too much for me, everything looks too new and shiny to me.

I played through The Pitt dlc yesterday, i'll post some screenies tomorrow

Downloaded FO3: GotY over the weekend after buying in the Quakecon pack. Played through the first 30mins or so and wasn't so bothered about modding it, however. After reading through this thread my curiosity got the better of me and so I downloaded;

FOMM
FO3edit
Archiveinvalidation Invalidated
DarnUI
Fellout

I haven't got around to getting any of the texture packs yet but I can't believe how much the few mods I got, have actually improve the game so much :D

All good. In terms of mods which do not change the base gameplay too much(if it's your first playthrough) i would also recommend the weather mods Enhanced Weather-Rain and Snow and Dynamic Weather. They don't conflict with anything either

Also i would recommend dowlnloading Streetlights, as Fellout makes the nights incredibly dark. You would probably be best to get a nightvision mod as well as there is no NV in FO3 vanilla.
The mod which adds Night vision to Power armour is great:)

Also you can get single mods which just add a pair of nightvision goggles or whatever.

Here is another "Green" mod (a lot of them uploaded recently!) uploaded today

Realout 3 realism edition

This mod truly is what will make dead old ghouls wish they were alive, and Brahmin want to actually eat the grass they see! Not only does it make the world we once new better and more sightly, but it adds key game play mechanics that should have been there in the first place.

What does the mod do? It adds more grass, not just dead old grass, but green pastures and rolling hills, which provide a better and more fun game-play experience for the user, and remember those old dead sticks they call trees? Well, those have shed there old bark and grown new leaves, Ive added a sneak bonus when in grass to provided for sniping and pick pocketing only a true scoundrel would enjoy...

Not only it adds fun but it gives the game-play more since, by analising the AI path finding i have added trails so for those who don't want to get Rad-ticks on them they can stay on path! and whats the fun if you cant sneek up on a enemy?!

Not my cup of tea, but i will give it a go to see what it's like. You never know unti lyou've tried it

Really it just looks like Oblivion!

There is also this(also uploaded today!)

Ground of Green

Say, for instance that you have a mod that adds trees and plants to the wasteland. Has it ever bothered you that there are trees, yet the ground is still cracked and dry? How could something grow in a salt flat? And yet there they are! This will fix that problem. The wasteland is restored to a lush and beautiful place when the ground has a nice blanket of grass.
Also it doesnt take a genius to figure out that wearing green makes you harder to see in a green environment. Thus the raider armor has been retextured as well to blend them better with their surroundings. And no, I did not make the raider armor a goofy solid green, in my opinion it now looks quite good.

Here are a few shots with KDS recovering wasteland on

I'm not 100% sure. I like the idea, but i don't know about the shade of green tbh. I think it's too vibrant maybe

Yeah i saw that the other day. All pretty much covered.

Good vid, but some of the shots don't really show it off particularly well tbh

Most of those mods are included in FOOK2, and some are incompatible too soyou would need to jiggle things about a bit to get it working

It is ri primary needs.fallout wanderers edition does also have a needs option as well. Both are linked in here.its a nightmare postong from my phone, trying to load all these pictures!

Pighardia - I'm just going to give the recovering Wasteland one a shot. Did you install the recommended extras, i.e Taller grass, Tree plugin? Your top screenshot looks exactly how I'd my game to look, but not wanting it over leafy if the other add-ons will do that.

There is only one file and it is only textures so you don't have to worry about load order or conflicts. It is this mod - http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=16566

It does look much better imo, but the shade of green is just a little too bright for me

Ah, I was asking if you used the recommended mods that the author says in the description. But if it looks like that with just the base mod then I'll stick with that.

Back into Fallout 3 after playing ARMA 2 for a while. Going to break my FOOK2 virginity later.

One of the stand out mods for me in the past was Fellout so glad its included in FOOK2, but I fancy using the Dynamic weather mod that was in the Youtube video a couple of posts up. Anyone know of any compatibility issues between the two?

They are compatible and recommended to work together. The effects are excellent. Ultradad posted some great screenshots with them on.

I think you need Enahanced weather rain and snow and Dynamic weather. I'm not sure if you need them both but they are designed to work together.

If the shade of green was turned down just a little bit, it would be 100% better imo. I might try and change it myself with the GECK, or contact the author

I just got a new follower. An outcast called Nitro so i thought i would go and clear out the Dunwhich building

I hve downloaded and installed NMC's high res textures mod including maxbumpmaps, but for some strangre reason it is not working... I followed all the instructions and the textures are appearing correctly in the data folder, but I don't notice the improvements on screen!

Has anybody else had this? Or are the improvements just really subtle?

I suppose they are quite subtle. Shaders are not enhanced or anything so you might not notice changes straight away, they are definitely there though. Putting the textures in the right folders is the only step you have to take though, so if they are in the right place, you should have it right:)

Curiosity got the better of me and I installed the recommended add-ons for Restoring Wasteland. It's definitely too leafy in places for my liking, but in some places it looks superb:

That screenshot looks nice. I am finding that it is a little too green for me, if it was toned down just a little bit it would be perfect.

I see you've got the weather working too:)

This was recently released om Fallout nexus

Error Corrections

This mod contains error corrections with the use of FO3EDIT. So far I've done Brokensteel, The Pitt, Anchorage, most of Fallout3.esm and will continue on to the other expansion packs, FWE compatibility and so on. I will upload the new files as soon as I'm done with them. Next version will have the "Worldspace, Wasteland" and maybe more :)

Jeoshua describes this mod in more details by saying it takes a meta-game perspective, finds logical errors in the esm files themselves, and fixes them in such a way that the files are processed in a more syntactically correct way.

Test Results so far:
- Reduced CTDs
- Megaton, The Mall, Chevy Chase areas have higher fps, smoother game play, shorter load times
- Hear more sounds in the Wasteland, Anchorage, Tranquility Lane, Super Duper Mart, Great Chamber Cave, Tents, Oasis, Metro Utility
- Wasteland wind is more active like it was intended to be
- More Ghouls have hair

I shall install it, as i can't see it doing any harm at least

It's a little green for me too, but I'm in a love/hate with it just now. I'll have made my mind up that I'm going to uninstall it after saving next, then I'll go over a crest of a hill and it will look great.

The dynamic weather is amazing in places. Yet to see snow which will be........ interesting.

Apparantly you can just delete some of the textures if you don't like them, so if the bushes are too green for example, you can just delete the appropriate texture file, but leave the rest to customize the look

Can i get some recommedations on some mods ive DL'd MMC Texture and its works smoove!

That depends really.

If it is your first time playing it, i would just recommend the graphics and weather mods such as Fellout, streetlights plus enhanced weather and dynamic weather.

Play with them for a bit and then see if you fancy changing much. You could also add a needs mod such as RI_primary needs if you want some realism(hunger/thirst/sleep)

If you have played before you might want an overhaul such as FOOK2 or FWE.

All are linked earlier, most on the first page

They are not subtle.
Without NMC everything is flat looking.
With NMC & max bumpmaps all the rocks on the ground in the wasteland look 3D, the water pipes in Megaton are properly bumpy & 3D. There are loads of differences that are very clear.

But if he's expecting to install it and suddenly be amazed by the difference in graphics, i'm not sure he will be tbh. Just NMC's was great, but i didn't get the best out of it until i'd messed with the INI and shaders and added Fellout.

But that's why i mentioned if they were in the right folders because you should notice something.

Installed weather mod last night but kept crashing so got rid of that.

Fellout nights are dark! Flash light on pipboy seems to be bright enough for now though.

Haven't installed any texture or graphics mods yet, default is good enough for me.

I did install Weapon Mod Kits - where do I find workbenches to add stuff to weapons?

Thinking about getting the RH_ironsights mod, as it works with WMK (with another mod installed :P) but I like to play in third person (which rh_ironsights doesn't like) and I would have to remove the re-animated mod.

If it crashed due to weather it was probably due to load order. It makes fellout nights brighter just a bit too;)

workbenches are found all over the place really. There is at least one in each settlement. In megaton they are in Moira's and your house

I personally didn't get on with Ironsights in the end, as it doesn't work with many custom weapons.

Oh Ok :P Really should have read the Description  But yea i did notice the weapon name changes, but are they meant to be diffrent or same from Fo3? Cause when i use them it seems to be same from Fo3.

**** weapons are mostly retextured and renamed as well as having damage changed. Also, the ammo is completely changed so that it will seem more scarce and you will need to change weapons more often.

You will notice weapons such as FN-FAL, AK47 and Norincoe assault etc.

Also, faction armours are retextured such as Brotherhood, Enclave, Talon etc.

Another tip, press O for a few seconds to bring up the menu and you canchange everything such as how weapons get damaged.
