** Fallout 4 Next Gen 2024 - MODS & TWEAKS **

I wonder why my download folder had some mods in it then, not 150 but probably at least 15. IIRC I saw the giddy up butter cup one, and chinese stealth armour. Unless they're just rolling them out to everyone but they're locked until you buy them. Or they were part of GOTY?

If you previously bought CC content its there again....anything else which for most will be all of the 150 paid for pieces of content you need to pay real cash to get it to work!

Nope, never. It was located in my steam downloads temp folder located here-> SteamLibrary\steamapps\downloading\377160. It may not have created all the files either, depending at what point in the process steam realised that it couldn't write to the folder, threw up an error and stopped trying to create files. Though how it created files in the first place I don't know.

The latest files were all dated the 10/11. Shame I deleted them as I'd be interested to know the names of them all now.

The long & short of it is the content will not work UNLESS you bought it! It might download some of it but try running it ;) They use some online DRM to enforce this at the backend via your account I believe!

Wouldn't surprise me, I did consider this as an option. Not a fan of it when companies make you store extra stuff that you don't have access to, even if it's not large I still think it takes the ****.

I wonder how the mods are compromised for those who use them, and not backed up or prevented the update from applying..?
There are guides starting to appear to downgrade back to NG.
I see the build has changed from 1.10.984.0 (NG) to 1.11.137.0 (Anniversary).
At least I have the NG and OG (163) to use as needed.

Very messy, for those who use mods, as well as those who create and maintain them.

This update was free for me, was queued up in Steam when I looked, I haven't spent much at all on Fallout 4 since it came out, apart from the original game and Far Harbour.

Yeh, but as pointed out free, but not the Creations Rip Off Pack included.

Also, still can't select 3440x1440 without messing about in the prefs.ini, what a stinker of an update.

Any good rep Bethesda had has long since gone.

Yeah, the Creations stuff is annoying. However, I do now have Automatron, Nuka-World, Contraptions Workshop, Vault-Tec Workshop and Wasteland Workshop all absolutely free!

The lack of widescreen support is odd, the standard 4K has been around for ages.

The Bethesda Devs are now lazy, or crap, or IMO both.

It isn't the first time though. I kinda get the last one, to a point, of how they changed the compression used for the pak files and did offer some mediocre fixes.
Going from build 163 to 984 caused massive issues and was most divisive for the modding community.
FO London being based on 163.

But, to do this again, with understanding of what it means, for so very little, perhaps nothing, to the base game is really bad.

Not sure if right, but someone commented that the DLC files are now placed in a different place on the anniversary release.?
Just that in itself, and it will be more, causes issues.

This did not need to happen........again.

I really wish bethesda allowed us to choose the game version. I think GoG allows us to do it, I wish we could on steam.

This popped up in my newsfeed, explains how to downgrade on steam.

For note - my most recent play through which started a couple of weeks back Steam still attempted to update the game. This is with me telling it not to, and running it through MO2 with F4SE selected. I also noticed Steam was tracking the playthrough and awarding me achievements. I don't know why this is happening, only that it is. I got lucky that I noticed that it was part way through downloading the update so I managed to stop it.

The only way I could stop it updating was navigating to the drive that has my install of FO4, then going to SteamLibrary\steamapps\downloading and making the folder 377160 (489830 for Skyrim SE) Read Only.

Now steam will still try to download the update after quitting the game, but will very quickly give a Disk Write Error and stop it.

Why don't you do what I noted above..? Maybe I was not clear..? :)

I have two folders on another drive...

Fallout 4 OG 163
Fallout 4 NG 984

both of those are linked with MO2 and use F4SE to run their version numbers of FO4.

They were copied from the original Steam install folder.
My Steam install is really just left to do what it wants, having got previous copies of it when it was those two noted builds.

Ah, are those two installs completely independent of steam then? TBF I won't use multiple installs, so setting the folder to read only is easier to do for me rather than move everything elsewhere and make sure MO2 et all is looking at the right place.
