Fallout 4 to feature Nvidia Gameworks

Going to stick to my guns and never pre-order games but I most likely will buy Fallout 4 on launch day after reading some reviews and maybe watching a few Twitch streams.

Moron? I pre ordered the Pip Boy edition for £80. For pre ordering I got this.

The PB edition is selling for £400. Not checked on the Bobblehead yet but won't as I will be keeping it any way.

And on release day I will be sitting there with this huge smile on my face whilst you lot are all still arguing over it.

If there are bugs? I'll simply start again like I did in New Vegas.

Could say the same with the batman games, they were good on release until arkham knight....

Or... You will be on the forum creating angry posts about all the bugs whilst we say told you so! :D

But yeah as boogie2988's video said, if you preorder to get physical collection items then fair enough, the issue is the pre-orders where you don't get any physical items. At the very least people can wait for a day or even a few hours to see reviews, user comments, gameplay videos etc.

Might aswell add to that, that pre ordering gpu's is just as bad in your opinion
And anyone that pre orders cards only have themselves to blame when a card is released that has buggy drivers and does not do what it says it does with 1/2 the performance it should have

As already pointed out, your argument is flawed in so many ways.

I lost 18 hours of Fallout New Vegas due to a serious bug with the companions. They would get stuck in a wall and there was no fix.

So what did I do? started a new game.

People are getting too wound up and are already expecting it to be broken. Me? dude I just want the game. I really, really don't care about all of the nay saying and picking peanuts out of poo over Gameworks and so on.

I've waited seven years for this and I've treated myself and I know for a fact I am going to be pulling myself to pieces when it releases.

Simples.

Some cheap plastic tat = £80?

Not quite. The game itself retails for £50, so it's £30 for the Pip Boy and a free bobble head (these usually sell for £25-£30).

However, they were made in such tiny numbers that getting one was close to impossible. Game's website collapsed and I spent three hours waiting on the phone.

My reward? go and type in "Fallout 4 pip boy edition" on an auction site and you will see that they are selling for £400+

You take offense at being branded a moron for pre-ordering, then proceed to insult everyone else in the thread. GG WP.

It wasn't an argument it was a truth, if you dont wanna play fallout 4 on release day thats fine, just dont try to belittle someone wanting something they want regardless of a few peoples negative views by somehow implying that because i bought a pre release game i am making the gaming industry worse lmao.

I CANNOT WAIT FOR FALLOUT 4.

@ oldestgregg, i am actually going to play it in my underpants now.

Now how much can i get the season pass for :D

The point about preordering is this.

You are saying to devs that "it doesn't matter if you don't deliver on your promises, it doesn't matter if the game is complete, it doesn't matter if the game is buggy beyond belief, we'll give you money regardless because of some unfounded hope I have."

Because of this ideal we've had so many broken games in the last couple of years yet devs have made a fortune because of you people.

Never really got into the fallout games but tried the last week or more playing fallout:new Vegas and its one of the most buggy games I've ever played and after all this time!

NPC's and enemy's stuck in objects, horrendous object clipping when trying to shoot things.

Even got stuck in an infinite loop when I first arrived at primm because I walkied into the casino wearing a powder uniform and got in a gun fight. Couldnt walk back in without dying.

Had to load a save up from a couple hours previous

Pre order via steam, if it's broke get a refund, everyone's happy?

I'll wait and grab this in the steam xmas sale I think :)

FONV was made by Obsidian.

I had issues with Fallout 3 I'm not going to lie. They were found and sorted pretty quickly though. One was the CPU (I had a quad core) so you just changed the threads with INUMHWThreads. The second issue was the sound. Galaxy news radio would crash the game.

So the fix was to basically download it as wavs and hack the INI around a little.

However, aside from a couple of hiccups here and there Fallout 3 was, and remains, one of the finest PC games I have ever played. Mostly because you could clearly tell the difference between the PC version and inferior console versions but mostly because you could tell it was a game coded by, finished by, packed into boxes and shipped by Bethesda.

Fallout 4 has had plenty of time put into it. 5-7 years depending on who you believe. So, due to them being the developers, publishers and so on I truly believe that they have spent more time than ever to get it right. It was said that the game was 100% complete long before they even announced it.

So I think people are just getting all het up over nothing. Maybe it's just nerves (because I mean, this is Fallout 4 the successor to one of the best games ever made) or maybe it's anxiety or something.

They need to relax. Buggy or not this is going to be one hell of a ride.

Gameworks? pah, smameworks. Shading? pah, bading.

I really, truly, couldn't give one nog of dog toffee.

Bring it on... I'm ready...

This is a total myth.

Developers do not push out 'broken' games because they have so many pre-orders, they stop caring or get 'lazy'. Developers are not lazy whatsoever. They work grueling hours to get these big games ready for release day. The problem is the increasing complexity of game development along with the need to hit pre-designated released dates. Publishers set released dates well ahead of time because game development is super expensive and there is a cutoff to where they generally feel the cost of development is going to exceed what they think they can get back from sales. Publishers also typically have plans for what a studio does after they've completed whatever project they are working on. So there is a huge incentive to not delay games.

And really, you think any publisher can just look at pre-order sales and then just sit back and relax and not care about how the game sells afterwards? These games cost a ridiculous amount to develop and no company is going to want limit sales after launch. There is still every incentive to make the game as good as it can be on Day 1. Those sales are still every bit as important as any pre-order sales, if not moreso.

Seriously, people have such simplistic views of these things work that they just lazily point a finger at the easiest target, no matter how little they actually understand the process.

Pre-orders hurt nothing. I think the worst thing they've done is create the demand for pre-order incentives, where sometimes token and often useless bits of content(couple middling weapons or a couple short mediocre missions or something) are cut from the game to give incentive to pre-order. The reason they push pre-orders is because it provides them with the security of actual NEW game purchases at full price(or near enough full price). What they are battling against is the used games market, and the 'I'll wait til it's discounted' types. It has no effect on the actual development of a game.
