Fallout 4 VR

Really want to know if they've implemented the VR correctly. the steam reviews seem quite harsh.

Yea it looks like it's full of issues, so probably best to wait and see if they get fixed. Looks more like a £40 mod than a proper VR game.

Also they were stupid to snub Oculus users as that is most of their VR player base. Bethesda has really shot themselves in the foot on this one.

The 4 foot tall problem can be fixed by inserting a line into the Fallout4VrCustom.ini, I used

fVrScale=75

I found this on the Reddit thread.

I played this for 4 hours this morning, I need to sit down.

I'll wait until either official Oculus support is implemented, or there are mods which fix up all the various control issues on the Rift. To be honest though, I'd prefer Skyrim VR on the Rift to this.

I doubt it's "most", probably barely half. And we don't see Oculus/FB/Epic losing any sleep over doing the exact same thing.

I'm sure a custom mod will be forthcoming at any rate.

The huge price drop on the Rift will mean they most likely have the biggest market share by quite some margin now. Before that the Rift had something like 53% of the market when you added CV1 and DK2 together.

Anyway, I've been playing it for a bit but refunded in the end. There's just to many problems to make it enjoyable, the controls are horrible and there's ugly popup of textures and objects around the edge of the screen. It also doesn't run that smoothly either, even though it appears to be on the monitor you notice some kind of frame skipping in the visor.

About 4 hours in loving it with the Rift, yes the touch controllers are not supported yet but I can live with it due to the immersion and fun of exploring.
I have had no issues with pop in textures or blur, 90fps smooth playing.

Once I tweak the controls or bethesda patches in the touch controllers I may only leave F4 VR to eat sleep and do other life threatening things.

My specs
i6700k
Asus z170 gamer pro
16gb DDR4
EVGA 1080ti FTW 3
samsung m2 950 pro steam library.

For some people it seems to work as perfect as a none supported rift title can, like me and others get a lot of issues.

and Vive has this tiny market called China...also Steam HW survey says no.

This is pretty cool playing in VR but the controllers seem weird and I can't get used to them, would much rather play some of these vr games with gamepad.

That's because Oculus/FB/Epic don't any more. Revive works fine.
Revive is a hack, not an official FB-sanctioned product. Just like any mod for Fallout 4 will be.

Anything bought on the Oculus Store is not guaranteed to work on a Vive or any other headset. The same principle applies here: Bethesda have not officially supported the Rift, purchase at your own risk...

Personally, I'm waiting for the issues to settle before blowing cash on this.

I tried playing it a bit more before the fund kicked in. But it's just not a very good VR port tbh.

It's 3D but the interaction you expect from VR isn't there. What I have noticed is when you melee swing it's playing an invisible canned animation, not looking at where your really swinging. Which is why melee seems useless most of the time. They have done this with many things and the old mechanics are hidden behind the supposed VR stuff, making it feel unresponsive and clumsy.

I agree. I've not spent a penny in the Oculus Store. They need to come out with official support as the current situation is losing them money from Rift owners as well.

I was under the impression the reason vive wont work with home is that Oculus need low level access to the headset which HTC won't give.
The rift only works with steamvr if you have home installed. Its a wrapper, when you start the game it calls oculus home and uses the libraries to run the rift.
This kinda makes sense, as home has asw amongst other features that steamvr doesnt support. Hence, needing low level access to implement these and work with Home.
