But then there hasn't been a top-down view fallout game for over 10 years!
Imo all the fallout games have been really good.

+1. people still complaining about how fallout 3 isn't basically fallout 1or2 really need to get a grip.
fallout 3 is a great game for MODERN times. christ its already considered a top 10 classic in many circles.

Heres an idea, on release day dont buy it, install Fall Out 1 and 2 and revel in the fact that you're playing a game you like and not one you dont

If I'd posted that FO3 was the best game I'd ever played, I would have got little or no reaction, bar one or two people agreeing.
Because I posted dissent, however, I got a flood of criticism and disapproval.
It proves one thing: these threads are not objective discussions about games. These threads are mainly for hype, and for existing fans to celebrate things they liked about previous games whilst ignoring all of their faults.
If you headed to the Overclockers UK forum hoping for objective discussion on *anything* you need to try elsewhere
Anyway, I think I've posted enough information about the game now, I might buy it later dependant on price and reviews...

you havent posted anything worthwhile from where im sitting - just over the top BS about how modern games suck and you love **** from 10 years ago.
imo fallout 3 IS one of the best games iv ever played....and I picked it up nearly a year later then the rest as wasnt up for playing it but im very glad i did.

Yeah, that's pretty much what these threads are about. If you don't like it, then go onto some fallout modding forums, and you'll find plenty of threads where people are discussing the revival of features that Bethesda didn't manage to put in there.
yes games change i don't mind the style/game play changing it's the writing that beth ruined, the dialogue is dull and pretty crap and the story it's self is also crap.
Also it ripped out the whole specialisation and consequence aspect of the originals and let you do anything + be everything just like oblivion.

Should I play 3 before New Vegas?
There isn't much reason to, the story isn't linked and it's very much the same gameplay.
You should play both, doesn't really matter what order.
Really want this to be totally awesome but just found out its only been in development since Aug 2009that was when Bethesda contacted Obsidian about doing it

Lowering expectations again now(please let this game not suck as its the only really decent release left on PC this year!!). But all the evidence is giving me a big clue its probably going to be a letdown.......
going on some of the great mods that people have made in there bedrooms ect i'm sure a year is easily enough time for a team of skilled coders and artists to come up with another awesome game that will be as good if not more so, and seeing that some of the guys were also involved in the old fallouts the story should be great as well, i'll be picking my collectors edition copy up first thing Friday and i can't wait!!!!!
