Fallout: New Vegas

Bugs are part of the Bethsda experience - their engines always offer you massive exploration capability and a vast array of quests, moreso then any other engine but at the same time they can be buggy.

Morrowind and Oblivion for me were very buggy, Fallout 3's engine was quite good and I only had a few broken missions and slow VATS like most.

To be fair their games are very expansive and I think bugs in that kind of free-roaming world are pretty inevitable. Particularly in relation to continuity and 'broken quest' issues as with the games being non-linear it is very difficult to forsee all potential game-breaking actions a player might have.

It's annoying that some don't get fixed (or are even introduced by) patching though.

I never had any problem either with Fallout 3 when I played through it.

Completed it on the PC but I'm thinking to get it on the PS3 this time, even if it seems people have more troubles with bugs on there :o
Anyone tried both or even just the PS3 one?

Not sure if anyone is aware of this, but rumor has it that Oscuro (from Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul mod) has been hired to work on New Vegas.

That is all kinds of awesome.

And on the subject of mods, I'm looking forward to the inevitable DarNified UI and Martigens Monster Mod for this.

Downside: if Bethesda are devoting most of their attention to this, how long does it delay TESV? Even if this is essentially a standalone game using the modded Ob engine they used for F3, it's the rest of the stuff that takes the time.

I think Bethesda are just the publishers, and the main body of work is being done by Obsidian. TES: V shouldn't suffer as a result. In fact (and this is just baseless speculation on my part), it's possible that Bethesda gave Obsidian the New Vegas title so as to free themselves up to work exclusively on their Elder Scrolls project(s).

I liked it rather a lot but after several expansions I'd had enough, which is understandable and to be expected. The way the add on missions worked I thought was clever though at first a little unclear. Certainly one of the better games I've played since beginning gaming though at times it did seem a bit of a grind.

Plenty of people seemed very keen on the expansions, which I enjoyed all in all, but I didn't find them 'that' good. My favourite was 'The Pitt'.

As this new title is apparently not just an expansion then maybe I'll give it a crack.

First day buy, no doubt. :)

Though I'm not without my criticisms of Fallout 3, I thoroughly enjoyed it for what it was. GOTY edition is niiice.

Still, very much prefer the original Fallout 1 & 2, so learning that many of those same people that worked on them are now at Obsidian developing this is great news. Kinda wish they would've insisted on making it the isometric, turn-based style, instead of riding on what Bethesda did. Oh well, it can still be great in that way. :o
