Fallout: New Vegas

Graphically on PC I predict this will be a massive letdown as all the media shown so far looks really dated

The quality in 3d is great though. Doesn't have too much post-processed effects so it tends to be 3d friendly. I never played it so much since i got a 3d vision setup :D

Graphically on PC I predict this will be a massive letdown as all the media shown so far looks really dated! I know its using the same Fallout3 engine but Bethesda managed to make some amazing looking environments.

All the art direction I have seen so far looks very questionable so I hope it has good gameplay!

Not just me who's felt that then! I'm hoping for the best...

Im looking forward to this but will wait for a GOTY edition. Ive got so much to do on FO3 anyways. I admit its still taking me time to get stuck into it (Just Cause 2 I blame you for this!) but I have to say free-roamers like this are just the awesomest games. I also admit I hate the VATS thing and i dont like using it either. It kills the realism I think....the whole concept of "stopping time" so you can "pick target areas" on the baddies and THEN fire...mleh. I prefer real-time.

I hope the graphics in Vegas are better, FO3 looks stunning now...but thats thanks to an amazing texture mod. I hope for better weapons too...nice assault rifles with scope hee hee. Steyr AUG hee hee.

Who gives a crap about graphics? So many people ignore fantastic games because their stupidly over-priced GPU doesn't get warm playing it.

Christ. FO3 is a fantastic game. I bet Vegas will be too. Who cares if the graphics don't make you break down in tears of amazement.

Gameplay was ok tho wasnt a fan of the vats. Be nice if it had some nicer gfx tho like the gfx from mass effect which wouldnt be out of the question as bethesda is just as big as bioware.

I agree. I'm pretty old & jaded, and few games really inspire me to complete them these days. But after a dodgy start (I took a while to get out of the bunker) I soon grew to love FO3. There are so many superb little touches in it which make you forget about the weaknesses (all games have them) and really believe in the world.

I've only recently completed the last DLC, but I keep wandering around finding bits I've failed to reach before, and generally maintaining the peace. But what I really want to do is get all the survivors organised and tame this wilderness once & for all. I have a huge stockpile of money and looted items; it's time to rebuild civilisation people!

Sadly that's not an option. But I'm really looking forward to Vegas. This is less of a game for me and more of a series of books I want to keep reading. I hope this franchise rolls on (with good developers!) for a long time.

PS Of course Vegas will now turn out to be diabolical and I'll be forced to eat my words. :->

It isn't all about graphics! FO3 is one of the best games out there.

Well its ok but i mean take mass effect for instance that has decent gfx and decent gameplay so it can be done to cater for both plus i never liked the whole washed out look of fo3 it just makes it look crap it doesnt set the scene at all imo.

I really liked fo3 at first but if u take a step away from it ull see it could have been a lot better lookin than it is and still have good gameplay.

FO3 was by far one of the best games i have ever played, the graphics were not the best but there was so much of it you cannot really complain.. All the little touches made the game, the Robot factory and the science bit with the planeterium. I managed to put in 145+ hours into fallout 3. As long as Fallout Vegas is more of the same i,m going to be happy......

So go play Gothic 4 if all you care about is graphics. From what i understand its REQUIRED spec is an i7 and a GTX 295. If you care so much wait for the inevitable graphics/texture mod.

You can't even compare ME2 and FO3. ME2 has considerably less to render, all the areas you fight in tend to be narrow corridors or a wide open, featureless area, all with an assortment of chest high walls and objects. Sure FO3s textures could have been better but then it would just take longer to release.

Gothic 4 isnt post appocolyptic which is why i got fo3.

ME (dont have 2) does have open areas so your point about less to render isnt valid besides theres not much to render in fo3 its mainly large open low detail stuff the most it renders is the characters.

edit - sry if i offended the fans i didnt mean to i guess its just i wished it looked as good as ME thats all. Take no notice of me. Im just weird lately cos i got problems i have to deal with tomorrow.

Link? I've only recently got into modding the game and haven't seen any good texture mods.

The Fallout series of games are amongst the best that have ever been produced, FO:NV looks to keep up the tradition. It is a shame that they haven't managed to improve the engine, but it didn't stop me from wasting 100+ hours on FO3 so I doubt it'll be a problem this time.

And we get customisable weapons - and the gangsters from FO2 :D

I CANNOT WAIT.

And Mass Effect has nothing on any of the Fallout games other than more polished graphics - but still with half the attention to detail (i.e. bland, repeated textures everywhere you go) - and I'm a big fan of ME (at least the first one, I got bored of the second one after an hour or two).

Oh so you do care about something other than graphics then? Or are you infact been so stupidly picky that you won't like the game unless its a post apocolyptic wasteland with a steampunk feel set in the 1920s while Jupiter is rising and also has amazing graphics?

I find the fact you praise ME rather farcical. More so that you think its open worlds looked good... perhaps you are infact partially blind? Its the only way i can see how you'd think planets in the Mako look even remotely good as unless my memory is mistaken, they looked TERRIBLE. Backdrops such as the Citidel when you were in the market were hardly high maintanence, given that they never changed, and the area where things happened were tiny by comparison to the areas of FO3.
