Fallout TV series being developed by Amazon

i binged it the other night, just over 8hrs back to back got off around 2am, have to say i thoroughly enjoyed it, bring on season 2 :)

It's a shame they didn't expand on what ghouls actually are. I assume they are mutants from the radiation, but nothing explained how they have survived for so long
I can't remember if it's really explained in the games, but my guess is the mutation involved something like enhanced healing (think Wolverine) triggered by the radiation hence them both surviving it and living so long.
Basically something like a cancer (cells replicating past the point where they should stop and doing so incorrectly*) but in a specific way would potentially do it, but it's all going to be handwaving explanations a bit like the "science" behind the fusion cells, stim packs etc. Knowing Vault Tec quite possibly something to do with an experiment they did, or one of their products as IIRC it was put in episode 2 about "plan D" being "probably the least harmful product vault tec ever released" or something similar (was it least harmful or most humane?).

*I think that's the basic backstory for such healing abilities in several science fiction and fantasy games/books/TV/Film.

Ep 4 now, really enjoyable, great gags and great action still with some cool characters.

Oakey dokey.

Edit*
Lol people are genuinely madabout what kind of characters are portrayed by actors? I wonder if they are the same people who refuse to play HZFW because Aloy is "fat" and gay... The characters are perfectly fine and all cast well, I never even thought who was gay or whatever until I read a few posts above. Some folks need to catch a grip lol.

Watched the first episode last night and was way better than I was expecting, seems like they only had the budget for 5 'real' armours so far.

Really enjoyed it, tons of stuff to look out for and can't wait for season 2 (Renewed before it aired apparently).

The guy that plays Maximus, I kept thinking 'Have they cast Denzel Washington and used CGI to make him look younger?'

Haha. We did think he looked like a young denzel too :)

Did notice some of the CGI is a bit ropey. Mainly the power armour flying scenes and that god-awful Kyle Maclachlan de-ageing.

I know we have higher expectations these days, but I can't help but think of the days where we were engrossed by toothpaste tube spaceships and crude overlay effects. Really not that long ago either.

Nowadays we're all over dodgy CGI wolves and robots like a rash, back then we just accepted it for what it was and got on with the story.

Interesting how our standards have changed.

I've seen the first two episodes and am quite enjoying it.

Although I've played FO3/4 quite a bit, I don't know that much about the Fallout universe, so should certain details be different/altered, it doesn't bother me as long as I enjoy it.

I've seen 2 episodes so far and it's very good. One, minor, criticism. As you play the Vault Dweller, in the games, I'd rather they'd spent more time on that character.

When I watched the first episode and the, I guess trans character showed up, I knew some people on this forum would be unhappy. Some are so emboldened now they'll even say black characters and women as well ruined it. Pathetic sad individuals.

I couldn't care less if a black, trans, disabled, midget illegal boat they/them person was in it. If I enjoy something I don't care who's in it, except James Cordon (****). I am comfortable in my masculinity and was educated to a high enough level that I don't believe ******** spouted by people with an agenda or those who are scared of Muslamic Ray Guns.

Well it doesn't take much to guess what happened in this thread. Seriously just give them their own forum to whine in.

Anyway, watched most of the first episode a I'm very pleasantly surprised, it would have been so easy to swing and miss at Fallout but they seem to have pulled it off and captured the essence of it without being too hammed up. Look forward to watching the rest!
