Fantastic thunderstorm in Kent

Took a quick video, this is looking out of my back window, roughly north east. Crap quality and orientation but gives you an idea of strike frequency.

Weirdly, its died down again now and we're back to completely silent but almost constant lighting.

Edit: just as I posted that it was dying down, had a massive thunderclap, sounded like an explosion nearby :D

Not afraid to admit I've just let out a shriek. Lying in bed with the curtains open watching the flashes and there's an unusually bright one. Just as I sit up, there's the thunder clap that sounds like an explosion in my back garden. I nearly jumped across the room :D Sets off a few car alarms and the streetlights outside cut out for a second Awesome :D

Thunder storms are crazy, I remember going to Cuba couple of years ago, I swear the lightning must have been striking less than a hundred metres away constantly, every single window was reverberating with every strike :D :o

Had something like that where I am a few years ago. Constant purple lightning with no breaks between strikes. I've not seen storms like that in the UK before.

Been redecorating, I put down my brush to watch and ended up spending an hour in various windows as the storm moved over the house! That's Forest Hill so south London, seemed like it went from south, over and to the northwest.

I'm just outside Ashford, never seen nothing like that before and the thunder..it shook the house and woke the Mrs up "******* hell, what was that?!" :D

I can’t recall seeing a storm like this in my lifetime

Leighton Buzzard

We had flashes for about half hour constant then a shed load of rain and thunder and lightening. Lots of fork lightening and so on

Now the thunders nearly gone but so much lightening in the distance

All I can think of is a quote from Star Trek

‘A lightening storm in space’

Just starting here in Redditch.
Yep, it just woke me up :(
I’m supposed to be doing a Sportive today with this going on all day :/
