Far Cry 2 Graphics Performance

Nice Far Cry 2 graphics card performance review from Guru3d here.

Good stuff..

According to that I should be able to max it out (without AA) as I have a q2d :)

Pleasantly surprised that I still don't have to fork out for new hardware :p

only in the US i think mate :(

stupid as hell

this makes me less likely to want the game, i cba with discs

It's no where near, its a console game after all, it still looks nice though

far cry 2 is developed for pcs and ported to consoles. reviews have stated that is very well optimised and it looks much better on pcs. it's the most graphical intense pc game to date (excluding crysis).

anyway, thanks for the benchmarks.

Nice Far Cry 2 graphics card performance review from Guru3d here.

For such great visuals it appears to be a very well optimised engine as at 19x12 the ol' boy 8800GTX is hard on the heels of a 4870 :p Anyone with a GTX260 will be well happy too on a 24" @ 19x12

'Goes to purchase FC2 immediatley...........................' :D

Good to see a new top visual game can be run by most avid fps gamers unlike the shambolic mess that is Crysis :mad:

Here are my results using the benchmark program that comes with the game. Everything apart from the AA is set to maximum.

farcryse9.jpg

* Average Framerate: 59.21
* Max. Framerate: 78.61
* Min. Framerate: 44.89

Single GTX 260 @ 712/1250/1484

anyone seen any 1280x1024, aa off, 8800gt benchmarks?

i can't afford more than 1x card per year :)

go quad core :p
It's nice to see it using more than one core, still no point getting the quad over a dual though when you consider the dual will generally be clocked faster.

Looks like guru3d have the 1gb 4870 added to their review.

Performs much better than the 512mb with AA at higher res, but i would say that without it the 1gb and 512 would be close.

http://www.guru3d.com/article/far-cry-2-pc-vga-graphics-performance-review/

The 4870 512 is performing worse than in should because of the lack of memory in newer games+high res+AA.

It does the same in crysis Warhead with 2/4AA at higher res and grid when 8AA is applied at 1920 res.

I knew i should have waited for the 1gb. :(

But funny enough my sons graphics card is not working so well in newer games and he only plays in 1360x768 res, so i'm giving him mine so i can get the 4870 1gb. ;)

The game runs great on my machine. No lag, all settings on maximum and 4x AA. I tried 8x AA, my frames droped from 35-40fps to around 21fps which did feel quite slow. Btw, I am on dx9 mode, have not tried dx10 yet, will do after I complete the game though. Everything is running so nice and smooth that I dont want to mess with that just yet.

The graphics in this game are good, but still no where near as good as Crysis really.

game runs great for me too on a 8800gt and q6600 @ 3.2ghz with 2gig ram, rez i run at is 1360x768 with all ingame settings set to very high (not ultra) with 2xAA and getting 50fps in most places, ingame benchmarks averages 57fps for me at my settings.
