Far Cry 2 Graphics Performance

Here are my results using the benchmark program that comes with the game. Everything apart from the AA is set to maximum.

* Average Framerate: 59.21
* Max. Framerate: 78.61
* Min. Framerate: 44.89

Single GTX 260 @ 712/1250/1484

which test was that in? ranch small ?

Just completed the game. In game it says it took me 13 hours and 40 minutes. But I think if I had done all the side missions it would have took me 20+ hours. I did do some to unlock weapons and stuff, and helped buddies out a few times, but mainly stuck with the main missions.

I would give the game a 8.9

The story was good, but I think not implemented well into the missions and like most reviews say did not emotionally capture me like say Bioshock. I think I spent more time driving/boating/walking around then in missions tbh and towards the end it started getting a bit annoying.

In the end, still well worth the play. But it could have been better. I don't see my self playing it again.

If anyone is having a stuttering effect in this game, check that you are not on dx10. I get it in dx10, but once I change to dx9, its all smooth again.

Well at least the game ran super smooth at maximum settings, 4X AA and 1920x1200 res :)

Yeah I suppose I was looking from a 939 point of view, didn't want to get into the i7 debate. still dont know what i'm going to or when i'm going to upgrade, anyways i'm off topic. soz

I dunno if it is worth me upgrading to a C2Q or sticking with the dual and going i7 next year.

Considering those 2 cards are at stock I rekon its giving a big boost in framrate unless thats how they perform already?

I reckon it gives hardly any boost tbh. Two 280GTX in SLI are powerful. Not sure, does far cry 2 use 4 cores anybody know?

Graphics are not far from crysis, shows how crysis could have been optimized better.

I found that there is a big difference in graphics from Far Cry 2 to Crysis. One look at the character models will show you this. The one thing I was impressed with Far Cry 2 was the environment and foliage. But overall Crysis feels like its at another level.

By the way, I saw as many popup's of foliage in Far Cry 2 as Crysis, maybe evan more. I wish we could make viewing distances much bigger, as popup's take away from the immersion.

I am not saying Crysis is badly coded or not, but cant really look at Far Cry 2 and say this game proves that Crysis is badly coded, because it does not.

As for quad core cpu. I saw all four of my cores being used. But max I saw the go up to was 65% and that was during loading a level. I don't think this game stresses cpu much, as my cpu monitor showed that my cpu temp never went passed 28C lol. Granted the room is colder then usual, but still. I would like to see a game use all cores (or at least 2) 100% or at least 90%. Maybe in a few years time, that's when I will upgrade ;)

You on water? What you using to look at CPU temp? Use Core Temp if you are not using it.

I use HWMonitor. Try it out, its from the same guys that make cpu-z. btw. I said 28c, but it could have been 38c. Right now I am running at 22c, but it does show max cpu temp reached was 33c, probably as the program was turning on.

I will test it out later on and let you know :)

Not running on water by the way. I use Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme :)

I'd test out Coretemp, even 38 would seem abit low for an Ultra 120 eXtreme, running at 60 load on my dual at 1.35V 4Ghz :(
