It was for a business account not a personal account. What made me laugh is when he quoted The Hitch. There is absolutely no doubt Christopher Hitchens would despise his political beliefs, the same Hitch that was a self confessed leftist.
If I were a betting man I'd wager a months money its happened due to the bank(s) spotting what they believe is illegal activity. The man has white collar crime written all over his smug face.
I’d argue he insights it.

What are you even trying to say here?
Who regulates the Task Force?I think the regulator of my regulator is the FCA maybe? And the ones who set the ultimate rules I think are the Financial Action Task Force, an international organisation.

Point being that he can still open a personal account. And? You think he wouldn't be involved in dirty money with a business account?
I'd also wager he knows exactly why this has happened, he's just using his hero Trump's playbook, play the victim, its them not him, he's protecting all of us, they are only going after him because he's a threat to them blah blah blah.

Banks with Couts You need a minimum of 1 million cash to open and keep an account there.
Weird as the actual legislation is more expansive than that...I don't think that's enough to be a PEP. But I haven't looked at the definition for a few months since I did my annual training

Not saying the link you provided is wrong as it could be me reading it wrong, it's late.(14) For the purposes of paragraphs (9), (11) and (12)(a), individuals entrusted with prominent public functions include—

Dealt with this nonsence already...
It was for a business account not a personal account.
Nigel Farage has claimed he has been shut out of the UK banking system due to his involvement in the Brexit referendum.
In a video posted to Twitter on Thursday, the former Brexit party leader said the accounts he held with the same bank since 1980 – which he did not name – are being closed, and that he was refused personal and business accounts at seven other UK banks when he tried to open new ones.
Mr Farage claimed without a bank account he is a “non-person” in Britain and will threaten his ability to “exist and function”.
“I won’t really be able to exist and function in a modern 21st century Britain,” he said.
Later on Thursday night, on GB News, Mr Farage said the bank had called him up and offered him a personal account within the banking group division, but not a business account. He said he was considering whether “life was worth living” in the UK.
Nigel Farage Said at 04:48 on the clip onwards:
"Well you can knock me down with a feather, the phone rang at quarter to 7 and it was the bank that wants to close me down completely in a few weeks time. The claimed there's nothing political at all in what they are doing, its purely a commercial decision. And it was said to me on the phone a few minutes ago they could get me a personal account with another bank that is part of the same group but that doesn't apply to the business acount
