All I have to say about this is

I’m not really fond of Farage.

Still, makes you think, once we truly become a cashless society we will forever be at mercy of the banks.

Quite surprised if what Farage is claiming is true, why he’d be targeted.

I’m surprised he didn’t list it as “Matrix attack”.

Also though members of his family. He didn't say whether they had also been offered new accounts or whether they've just been left high and dry too.

Did you not follow the Canadian trucker protests? They froze the bank accounts of those protesting to starve them of support and the ability to carry on their protest.

It can and will be used as a political tool.

So has this bank expunged all other PEPs because otherwise the excuse of 'commercial reasons' is looking decisively thin.

Providing of course that Farage's balances are above the minimum requirement. He claims they've offered a new personal account with a sister bank, so can't be guilty of any major breach of terms as they wouldn't do so otherwise.

Canada is not here.

However as I have said, a bank is a commercial company - it can do anything pretty much within the law and on the demand of its shareholders. Some could be politically motivated that the individual places themselves at a position that puts profitability at a risk. A bank account is not a human right. Welcome to those without homes (which typically is required to hold an account) that is then required to have a job.. that circle is difficult to resolve without the bank making an exception and providing a bank account tuned to those needs. If Farage deems he must have a bank account then that is true for every human - unfortunately the capitalism approach means that's not compatible.. no wait he went to the US to meet with Trump, a true 'free capitialist' so is now at the wrong end of the conservative approach that if you've not got a private ban account with millions in the back you're nobody and can be appropriately screwed over..

Yet we have not had the official reason - if Farage feels that bad, take it to court and we'll see the reason as part of the trial. Then we'll not have to guess at the reasons.

Thanks for reminding me.

I forgot about them.

Learn to read....

the offer of a personal account was made later on today (at around 18:45 hours)

"its purely a commercial decision"

I thought Farage loved free market capitalism and thought it was being eroded by the EU?

If only there were some large organisation that we could join, that might help pass laws to reign in the worst habits of corporations....

We don't need to be part of the EU to introduce banking laws!
