I heard they drink more than a thirsty camel which I don’t really mind plus heard rumours they don’t start in cold
24-26mpg on an a/b/m road run.
~20mpg combined
No heavy town traffic though.
About 0.5L of oil every 1,000 miles.
Increased fuel/oil consumption is one of the signs that these engines are on their way out.
One with failing seals probably will struggle to start in the cold, yes.
Never had a single problem with mine, been using it as a daily over the winter.
There is a good buyers guide on the owners club forum, I used it when looking for mine.
When I was looking... my budget was £4k and it was between an RX8 or 330... at this money, the 330s are a shambles, unfortunately... the RX8 seemed un-beatable for the money.
It's impressive what you can get... I picked one up with loads of options (all, if I'm not mistaken), sat nav, bose sound system, 231bhp model, HIDs, 2004 model that had just been through a major service for £3k. Of course they're rear wheel drive and come with limited slip differentials as standard.
It needed a pair of front tyres, that was it... although I had wheels in motion fiddle with the geometry at the same time.
Extruded MX5 chassis, so the handling isn't too dissimilar from the mark 3 mx5... with a rather nice rotary engine, more options and more comfort. I took it to Snetterton at the beginning of December, handled itself better than I was expecting
