Faulty Palit GTX 1070?

OcUK have confirmed that the GPU is faulty. They are issuing a replacement, but they haven't specified when! I hope it's not **B Grade** or something. They don't appear to have many in stock, if at all.

I doubt you'll be sent a B Grade card.

Simply check the packaging, the box should be sealed.

And try to stop worrying, it'll make no difference to the outcome (which is highly likely that you'll have a brand new working card).

Having said that, you do know that apparently the fans on the card always run, despite the specifications claiming that they stop when the temp is less than 50C ?

I'm a worrier. It's probably why I'm bald! :D

I didn't know that, no. It's not a major deal breaker, as long as the darned thing functions this time!

Edit: Finally been sent some tracking info. Should be here tomorrow. Saints be praised!

Good. I'm sure you'll let us know how you get on with the replacement.

To be honest, the fans running constantly is not really a problem, and I doubt you'll be able to hear them. The fans on my Gamerock Premium sometimes start up, even when I'm not running any 3D apps (in warmer weather). When they do start up, I hear a very slight "click". It would probably be better if they were running constantly.

Why has this feature been omitted from the version I have? Do you have a source btw?

Social media behaviour is totally different to a forum.

Isn't going off-topic generally frowned upon on internet forums?

Update: I plan to use DDU as a precaution before installing the latest driver for the GPU. I only ever used it when migrating from AMD to Nvidia hardware or vice versa. I wouldn't think going from a 970 to a 1070 would be problematic?

I've received my replacement, which wasn't actually sealed, surprisingly. Both the box and the anti-static bag were open. It does make me wonder if they've just given me a card that was returned, seeing as there's limited stock. I suppose it's possible that they tested it prior to sending it, to ensure it's working. It scored a healthy 14918 during the initial Fire Strike benchmark. We'll see how it goes...

Sorry, I should have ended my post with /s for sarcasm. My experiences have been somewhat similar to yours then unfortunately.

Would you mind sharing your experience? I'm all ears!

Edit: I've noticed that most people won't hear a bad word said about them. It seems the best way to get some semblance of customer service is to write a negative review on Trustpilot. It's a shame it's come to that!

Well if they are used doesn't that automatically make them B-grade products?

Also perhaps people are annoyed as the usual solution (offer by many other competitors of OCuk) is to replace the product with a new one. I know that has been my experience when dealing with competitors.

I'm forced to put up with it, sadly. I can't do without a GPU for another 5-10 working days.

And my replacement has been shipped. Very happy with the quick turn-around.

I'd be interested to hear if the seal on the box and anti-static bag has been opened. My GPU was collected Monday and the replacement was received this Friday. When did you RMA yours?

From reading how you have reacted throughout this thread I'm honestly a bit confused at some of your responses, always going against the grain. Do you work for Overclockers?

He's clearly sympathetic of retailers and their small profit margins. ;)

You weren't privy to the conversation I had with a certain uncouth representative, but he flatly denied the option of exchanging the card for a different model. Incidentally, they arranged collection at the wrong address, and then proceeded to send a replacement which had clearly been opened.

A refund was out of the question, because I paid for the item on credit, and had already begun to pay off the balance. It would have been a long-winded affair, and I would have been without a GPU for the duration.

It's not entirely OcUK's fault, but if they permitted me to pay the difference for a different model, I would have received a more reliable card, resulting in a positive outcome in this thread.

Even at it's normal selling price, it's one of the cheapest GTX1070s available. It's not entirely suprising that it might not be as reliable as more expensive models.

It seems even your premium model is not exempt, according to numerous forums!

Received my card. It was previously opened (static bag), but looked like it was to test it, which I don't mind, because it works now :) Just played some games there, very happy with the card, and the quick RMA.

I'm pleased that you had a straight-forward experience. How does it perform on Fire Strike? I'd be interested to know.

I've been using it solidly without incident. I'm currently running the card at stock, but it's relatively quiet and the temperature seldom exceeds 70 degrees under heavy load, even with the current weather. I've not taken the liberty of tweaking anything just yet.
