Favourite ZX Spectrum games

Chuckie Egg 2, Footballer of the Year, Nightshift.

Carrier Command came late in the day, great on the spectrum.

Literally too many to pick as a favourite.

My Spectrum +2 was by the far, the best Christmas present I have ever received.

For anyone interested in the Spectrum/8-Bit boom or 80s in general, this is worth a watch:

(Do not interpret it to be fact, just enjoy the ride, it is good fun).

First Speccy game that got me hooked was Starquake

Sunk hours into it

Halls of the Things. Genius... at the time.

Halls of the Things was my first game, but it wasn't anywhere as good as many others for the Spectrum. It was far too difficult to complete without a infinite lives cheat, and the graphics were relatively basic.

An under-celebrated game was Highway Encounter, which was so neatly designed and it had a good satisfying ending that many Spectrum games lacked. It also remains the only game I have ever played that had a good reason behind having extra lives. It was quite short compared to some other good games though.

Pyjamarama was a great puzzle/adventure game which I completed without any help or cheats. Bad one for the Spectrum colour bleed issue though. Oh look I made a YouTube comment on it 4 years ago.

Also, Fairlight, which I also completed unaided.
It squeezed the last drops of potential out of the Spectrum 48K.

Turbo Esprit (above) was top drawer!

Also, I fondly remember (and still haven't found a rom for) Blood N Guts:

And Stunt Car Racer:

And this new fad thing at the time that started with DRILLER:

Stunt Car Racer was fantastic! There were so many great Spectrum games and it was great being able to get them at pretty much any newsagents for a couple of quid.Nevermind being able to copy games with a twin cassette deck!

Loved pretty much all of the codemasters titles, especially the Dizzy series and rockstar ate my hamster.

Harrier Attack, Trashman, Daley Thompson's Decathlon, Yie Ar Kung-Fu, IK+, Ghosts n Goblins, Batman the movie, Barbaian, California Games, Rolling Thunder, Renegade, Rick Dangerous, god I loved my Spectrum!
