So I've got the wharfedale 9.1's and super happy with the sound quality, but I was in the coffee shop and they got Tannoy Mercury floor stands in, and I notice this lovely bass even at low volumes that's just around you and really low, can't explain it and that's a crappy explanation.

I don't want to go and buy all new speakers but thinking of a sub for 100-150 to do the job? Any idea what sort of sub would do this, think I need an active sub? As I have a CEOL Piccolo N5.

Would like some good bass capability but also the full low end for any volume so I'm not missing any of the ranges.

I assume to match the bass output of say my Logitech Z5500 I'd have to spend a lot more? As I say bass output not quality I'm sure that'd be easy to beat.

Any suggestions welcome.

Thanks

Didn't realise I had replied it wasn't telling me! Well thanks for the info, I love the look of the XLX200, might have to go for that maybe second hand. Looks like it has a bit of meat to it compared to the Gemini 2. The Wharfedales kick out a lot of bass for their size I think, just the bottom end is invisible.

Would down firing be worse for next door annoyance? No one below just a car park though.

How powerful are those Tannoys? Would a Gemini 2 be better? I'm thinking of asking him if he wants to swap since they're used in a railway arch in a caffee don't think he'd be fussed I hope. But then again would they work with my amp I have?

I think I like the look at the 10" BK sub if I can get it a bit cheaper . I'd also use it for movies

I noticed a review it said it bottomed out quite easily, I don't want to bottom it out, if I'm used to playing a Logitech Z5500 with music quite loud could I find this bottoms out way before the Z5500 would ?

I'm not comparing quality here I know the Cambridge audio will be much better quality. And I don't want to thrash it as I live in a flat. Just don't want a wet flannel of a sub if that makes sense !

I'd like to spend 250 max to be honest, I've always wanted a BK Monolith, but I think it'd be a bit too big at the size of a small fridge and also excessive for a small flat.

You're probably looking at the Buy-it-Nows including the factory refurbished.

You need to change your search and filter by Completed Listing and Auction rather than all.

Look up the.following item numbers:

183484586588 £250

192697119800 £204

202532173552 £210

183464543549 £260

253918264756 £261

253955953429 £265

223249527119 £210

This is what XXLS400s sold for in auctions. These are real completed deals. Are you getting the picture yet?

Sorry to be blunt, but sometimes you have to get off your backside and go to fetch stuff if you want the real bargains.

All of the other brands I listed have had subs sell on Ebay that are within your budget.

Ok thanks I'll try do some bidding

If I were to plump that much on a subwoofer id have an oled TV! I could buy a 500 quid suvsubwoo but I need to allocate funds to a mortgage! I may consider 300 max for a sub

I'm quite unprepared I don't have a driving license :p

And I save about 200 odd quid a month, that with holiday's and other things equates to finding it quite touch to cough up for a subwoofer.

What's your idea of earth shattering bass, mine isn't your idea I guess?, my Logitech Z5500 can shake my livingroom probably the whole flat watching a movie or playing movie, it's a 10" ported sub, are these subs not going to be as loud as the 10" Logitech? (Yes I know the quality will be FAR superior on the BK / Most proper subs)

So what sort of sub do you need to match the loudness / go lower and sound great?

I like the look of the

Monitor MRW-10 Subwoofer

10", Ported. £350
