Feral teens/sub-humans and their behaviour

This has been building for years, nobody is allowed to discipline their children anymore because of the do-gooders saying that any child who is smacked will grow up to be a psychopathic murderer and that has raised a generation of breeders who can't/won't take responsibility for their darling little children who are let loose to just behave how ever they want, the liberals have also diluted the police authority to a point where they cannot do their jobs and sentencing is more like a wheel of fortune gameshow.
I think it's unfair to blame a single group as there are many factors at play it seems, however I definitely feel the softening of discipline in schools and parenting in the 90s has had a predictably net negative effect on society as a whole.

The rest since then has just added fuel to the fire.

The police don't set the sentences.

Things need to be fixed much earlier than that.

If you live your life with no accountability, no expectations of you, no thought of how your actions affect your future prospects and get to the point where you beat to death some kids that you don't like the look of I don't think sentencing is going to be much a deterrent.

This is why anyone who can moves out of crappy areas.
No idea what the answer is, but being 'understanding' and nice isn't it.

Massive cuts to youth services. Check

You forgot:

- Massive cuts to the courts system causing cases to take forever to be processed
- Increases in sentencing guidelines with no corresponding increase in prison places

Both from the "tough on crime" party ....

Tories gonna Tory, about time we had a party for law and order instead of a party of righty populism.

Clearly cutting budgets to youth services, services that help poorer areas and cutting police to the bone is not working.

All the symbols of minor authority are gone. No park wardens, no toilet attendants, less traffic wardens, less visible police present. Added to a culture that seeks to actively remove discipline. As a society we have gotten out of the habit of doing what we're told it's been a long slow road but this is where we are. Other social changes like loss of mass employment and personalised entertainment have eroded community from the 50's. We used to know our neighbours as the wives saw them each day, husbands worked together. Shame and social standing acted as strong limiters on social behavior. We went to working men's clubs or pubs together now we don't know our neighbours and don't care what they think because they're strangers. We've removed all the brakes on anti-social behavior and young boys in particular lack authority figures. It's a problem of our own making.

This sort of crime and anti-social behaviour has seemingly been around for all of my life and it just seems to be an ongoing feedback loop.

Nonchalant people with no real help or people to care for them raise nonchalant children with no hopes, aspirations or cares.

Crime and exploiting society are considered fair game for survival.

Little regard is given for anyone else.

Government facilitates the cycle by cutting funding for real help and quietly permitting exploitation of benefits (as I expect that this is cheaper than providing real help).

Law enforcement is also significantly cut.

Telling people to “just do better at life” and punishing individuals for crimes clearly doesn’t work, so there really does need to be a massive effort in fixing these parts of society that everyone would rather just brush under a rug.

Keeping brushing it under a rug and terrible things happen.

Austerity measures in place due to Labour using the magic money tree for 13 years - Check

This is exactly the reason we have these issues now.

When I was in my late teens/early 20s, in my home town if you got pregnant at 16-19 you were instantly given your own flat, money and grants to furnish your new home. So scores of girls got up the duff. They didn't want a kid but hey, free flat.

Austerity measures in place due to Labour using the magic money tree for 13 years - Check

The last time the UK government was in surplus was under Labour: https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2001/feb/21/uk.budget2001

Then there was the small matter of a World financial crisis in 2008.

And then the conservatives spent 7 years telling us there was no money, then they said austerity was over and recently they've found a magic money forest around the time the pandemic hit.

Just human nature I'm afraid. Watch some bestgore and you'll never look at things the same again, this is very tame compared to what we humans are capable of.

This is definitely growing round my area.

One story I took note about is some kid I a fancy ebike got basically just punched to the ground by a group of scum and his bike taken. There's been worse. Sub 18 year old too.

I cycle with my ebike around too and often get 'nice bike I'm gonna av that' comments.
Lock. It up outside the super market and I came out hearing a kid (must have been about 10).talking about how he's gonna steal that bike.

It's all over the Facebook group, but nothing is done police don't do anything. It'll just continue.

My hope is they build the train station and it prices this lot out, or at least it brings some police presence. Its not going to change otherwise

It's gotten worse in lockdown as these lot are out all the time. It just gets worse and worse.

These are the bottom rung. Of society, in some ways I understand it. They have nothing, care about nothing, will never have anything.

But really, I'd rather they were all just shipped off to an island somewhere where they can just hassle each other.

Watch some bestgore

Don't do this.

Different scenarios entirely, the stuff you're talking about is usually hardcore crime/gang killings or horrific accidents. Plenty of parents every week will have to confront other kids about their behaviour and don't get beaten up.

Found a massive field near my home last Sunday when out for a walk, very nice spot. I walked past a tree with a massive amount of burn damage on it nearly half the trunk eroded. I could also smell deodorant in the air and when I past a brushy area revealing yet another huge field all the way down the end I could see about 8 people, a mix of boys and girls and one on a moped. As I got closer they scattered while yelling and then an explosion happened, I looked where they came from and they were lighting fires with most likely deodorant cans which is why I could smell it in the air earlier.

My first time in that common and yobs were setting fire to it and making bombs.

I don't get the labour/conservative point scoring to be honest.

Yes government has a role but this seems a bigger problem. It's a broader issue encompassing all aspects of society - parenting/values/schooling/breakdown of communities and tight knit families/poverty trapping etc.

The Conservatives have to take a decent share of the blame for this. I'd count myself as a Tory voter - however I was horrified by many of the decisions made under Theresa May. Many of which I'm please to see Boris has reversed.

However society in general has been headed this way regardless of politics.

The problem is gentrification rarely works. I live in quite an affluent area/expensive area, but it's only 5-10 minutes from some of the roughest areas in Manchester. These areas tend to always have some form of social housing which will always remain regardless of who lives there.

That's true. It's just a hope I guess. I think I'll be moving after a relatively short stay (short for home ownership). It's just getting worse here. Growing up in a village, this sort of thing was absolutely non existent

If they do build this station should be able to sell for a tidy profit. However the station would be amazing for commuting.
