Ferguson growing tired of Saha and his bloomin' injuries.

Old Trafford dressing room wouldn't be big enough to fit Anelka and Richardson's heads in at the same time.

The difference being Anelka was a half decent footballer at one point

Something that Richardson will strive for, for the rest of his career

Never really rated Saha myself - I always used to say that he was my fifth choice MU striker behind RvN, Rooney, Solksjaer and Smith, but many people wrote off Ole due to his injury worries and considered Smith to be converted to midfield.

Basically MU got held to ransom by Fulham because at the time they were WAY short of forwards, and he wasn't cuptied in Europe. He wasn't worth anywhere near £12m and I bet the board weren't very happy when Fergie went out any bought another couple of strikers in the summer 6 months later.

I think people expecting to get £10m for him are living in dreamland. Historically players who don't make the grade at OT get offloaded on the cheap - Veron, Kleberson, Forlan etc were all sold at a fairly hefty loss. He was never worth £10m to start with and with his record of injuries I think £5-6m would be more realistic.

Although swap deals hardly ever happen involving big players/clubs, if Owen were to move to OT I could see Newcastle being interested in taking him in p/x.

edit: Perhaps the most damning evidence is this. In the history of Manchester United Football Club, I can only think of 4 players who were sold for £10m+. Three of these were great players (Saha isn't) - Beckham, Stam and RvN, who were sold more for a falling out with Fergie than lack of ability/fitness. The other one, Veron, was sold at a £13m+ loss, and his fee was inflated by the Chel$ki factor in any case.

I'm confused as to why the hell manu would take owen. The papers seem desperate to have him back for england as well. He's washed up, finished. He was always about pace, even before his england injury he was struggling. Even then he had far too many knocks and was a yard or two off his best.

He will never be anything like the player he was in his early 20's at liverpool. Hw will never be any better than that. It would be a huge waste to buy someone like him. I dont see him settling into manu's style of play.

They want someone to bang in totals like RVN. So why go for owen a player who in all his seasons never managed 20 league goals.

Rooney has been playing excellent recently since Smith came into the team. Shame Rooney is suspended for the next England game as they'd do well together for England, if Smith continues to start and play well I think McClaren might seriously consider recalling him.

He cant do any worse than the idjuts hes playing at the moment but i'd rather he didnt pick him

United > England

Yup, can't say it'd be the wrong thing to do because Saha takes injury prone to new levels.

However, when fit I do think he is a fantastic player, although his one on one finishing is absolutely awful. However he seems to be able to finish from just about everywhere else it doesn't matter too much. :D

Smith:- 3 Starts. 1 Personal Goal. 3 Assists. 13 team goals.

Enough said. Get Saha sold.
I said at the time, Defoe was cheaper and superior to Saha in 2004, why we bought Saha I'll never know. Very good on his day, but those are few and far between.

Very much like Evra, he has no heart to play with a knock, with passion and determination for the club.

Smith is a warrior and is what is needed.

i concur, and besides who is to say his injury situation wont count him out like it did for Saha? sounds like another player we shouldnt want and definately dont need!

If manu where getting him for 3 million as a replacement for an ageing 3rd or 4th striker fair enough. But can you see him standing upto playing even half the games manu are involved in each year?

I can't.

He played too many games too young and his body is shot. Coming off the bench for the last half hour is his best position. Let alone paying enough money to trigger the buy clause in his contract. 98 was a long time ago.

I am not a Manchester United fan - I used to support Newcastle United years ago before I lost interest in football, but I watch the news and Saha has scored lots of good goals for your team. Why are you guys so quick to write him off/dump on him?

You're not a very loyal bunch are you? ;)

I think we've gave him plenty of time over the last few seasons.

Just someone who stays fit for the majority of the season.

You cannot predict injuries - they can happen at any time. I think your view is unfair to him. It's sheer bad luck at the end of the day.

Additionally, I really don't know what you're moaning about, Saha has played more frequently during the last two seasons then Michael Owen has for Newcastle! ;)

I don't even think Saha's injuries are that serious at times. I'm pretty sure he milks it as he can't handle the pressure.

I couldn't agree with you more. I 've always had the feeling that Saha's a bit soft.

I also hope the rumours about Owen are completely un-true although i heard on the radio that his physio says he will be better than ever once he comes back.

Berbatov was quoted on the BBC website at the start of the season that he has turned down Utd twice now.

I would have done the same if a big club tries to approach me from a few seasons already but is never brave enough to splash a sum of money on a Bundesliga player of Bulgarian origin, a sum thats normally nothing special for EPL itself and then give me no assurance whatsoever that I would not be a benchwarmer. I think its quite clear-cut! Players dont normally refuse to Man Utd just for the fun of doing so.
