Any news on the inquest that was meant to happen and the results posted before the first race? Only a few days left
Yeah what happened to that?
They always said they'd be announced on the 18th March, ie tomorrow.

Except it does. You see races where P2 is catching P1 by 0.XX secs per lap or if they;'re level pegging and you're watching the lap times, there's always the lap where the commentators (if they havent been paying attention) will wonder if one driver made a mistake, then correct themselves and say "oh no they were getting through traffic", or if they're on the ball they'll call it out before they get to them. They all get blue flagged anyway so won't make any real difference so just get in the way.

So what's the problem? There's no reason to make it easier for the chasing car. If P1 had to lap the cars then so should PW etc. It just seems additional faffery to get them to unlap themselves.I agree in normal race conditions where they are spread out, the dirty air will slow P2 down. However after a safety car they'll be past 5 or 6 in a row down the first straight.

Just another name to blame when things don't go Toto's way.
I maintain they should drop the lapped cars to the back instead of making them pass, and credit them a lap.
Biggest problem with that is that you're crediting a car for a lap that it didn't have to drive around. So how does that square with the rules on reliability of parts, race distances completed and so on?
Imagine you're 2s behind the car in front, it's been lapped, you haven't. SC happens, now you're an entire lap behind and have zero chance of catching up whilst they're right up there with the car in front. It's not fair.

What is the difference between letting them pass, or dropping them back?
Sorry I don't understand your example. How would you not be lapped yourself if you're 2s behind the car in front?Imagine you're 2s behind the car in front, it's been lapped, you haven't. I agree it seems easier to let lapped cars drop back, if you insist!

Achieves exactly the same result.
The only thing I firmly believe should happen, is that safety car and VSC should be the same, in that the time difference between places should remain.
So yes let lapped cars past, but if P1 was 5 seconds in front of P2 before the safety car, they should still be 5 secs in front when safety car pits and P1 crosses start line.
Only a Red flag and restart from grid should result in all gaps closing up.
Oh and pit lane should be shut totally throughout any VSC or SC period, except for damage repair, I.E front wing replacement, no tyres can be changed for anyone.
No he doesn't, the result stands:Yay the report says human error so Max needs to put an asterix next to the 1 on his car.
