Fidelity Super Resolution in 2021

well dlss has failed in one game as least

which does explain my friends who tried it all turning it of on the first day as everything felt odd

https://www.pcgamesn.com/call-of-duty-warzone/dlss-aim-drift

There is no real easy fix for that ultimately - they might be able to mask some of it but the wider the gap between the displayed resolution and the back end rendered resolution the more inaccurate that is going to be.

The performance option provides good marketing material, so it is easy to see why.

I get the issue with 4k, but the fact is that Moor's law is dead so big advances in GPU raw performance are gone, and we will be looking at smaller performance increases and less frequent GPU releases. DLSS is a way of jumping 2-3 generations, which then allows the increase in graphics quality. It is really a tradeoff, that to enable RTX for example then to get playable framerates at 4K then DLSS is necessary, otherwise we end up waiting another generation or 2.

by all reports the next gen amd chiplets could be 250% faster and we are only talking first 1/4 of next year

I mentioned this somewhere else and someone asked for more information, so thanks for sharing.

I think its all horses for courses but some people act as if they have shares in one company or the other

or they hate the idea of something they do not own being better

yes using 2.0 it was only implemented recently

but most people play with reduced settings to increase visibility

assuming FSR has any significant uptake on consoles, which no one will know without a time machine

You've been saying this about time machines while simultaneously making claims about the future on your own.

Have you got a time machine? Or blissfully blind to when you do it.

no, i haven't once talked about future with any certainly.
I have stuck to the hard facts and evidence, and presented different future scenarios without any claim that it is a given

I didn't ignore it, I was just responding to one of these misplaced rumours that DLSS is still hard to implement.

The actual real-world number of GPUs that will support FSR is totally unknown. It is now clear AMD won't support FSR on Nvidia GPUs, and there is no way Nvidia will, so there is 80% of the PC space gone. Intel haven't confirmed anything but stated they are working on a deep learning based solution. Unreal 5 engine supports a very good TSR (and DLSS2) so there is likely no need to add inferior FSR support, which then impacts console usage etc. The PS5 has hardware accelerated checkerboarding, so FSR would have to be better than that to get good traction.

Ok we'll go with blissfully blind to when you do it.

Just 14 more days of this trash then there will be some actual facts, that actually matter, not marketing or he said she said on twitter.

I was going to start giving away £5 notes to people, but apparently someone else is giving away £10 notes, so I might as well not bother... right?

Hard facts : "the tensors are hundreds of times faster..."
Here is the comparision with Pascal: Remember that unlike Pascal, the RDNA 2 can also accelerate hardware the tensors.

Nvdia won't support FSR.
It will work on Nvidia cards no matter what. Maybe not as good (or as bad :D ) as it will work on AMD cards but it will still work, even without their support.

Thank you for proving that I was entirely correct when I said I was not making a prediction.
Care to walk back your claim and apologize?

Like I said blissfully blind when you do it.

Doesn't have any escape clauses, just a bold statement.

Nvidia was having nothing to do with Freesync until it did yet you're happy to predict the future on FSR.
