fiesta 1.3 engine

Its cack, period. I should know I've been driving one around for 3 years (thats what happens when you let old people buy you a car!).

Hopefully it'll be replaced in the not too distant future.

Fairly robust though?

The only things going for it is it is economical and can last a long time.
The latter point is both a blessing and a curse.

You can always tell which Fiesta and Ka's have the 1.3 engine when the go past you down the road.
Assuming you are on foot. If you're driving they are unlikely to be able to pass you!

I thaught the KA's swapped to a 1.3 duratec engine in 2004 was it, I did a service on a KA and it said duratec on it and didnt look/sound like a old kent engine. Still dog slow though!

Mine doesn't actually have the usual ticking that a lot of them seem to.

Still a heap of crap though!

my mate has a 1.3 fiesta on an N plate...is still runnign and only cost him £450. never broken down on him. isnt the best of automobiles but it gets him to school and back (although he does get ridiculed by the kids for it lol(

I won't write this off but I think it's ideal for easy driving.

I used to own Ford Fiesta 1.25 zetec for 5 years and since it is 16v, it needs to rev higher than you would need to, to build up speed. But it was great for me, however, my girlfriend, while learning to drive, found it difficult to drive.

1.3 8v is ideal for learners as well as drivers who like relax drive. I can see why Ford went for this for Ka, so it is easier to drive/pull off in city.

I don't think there are any advantages that the 1.3 has over the 1.25, perhaps slightly cheaper, but the margin would be very small, and irrelvant compared to the advantages.

The 1.25 zetec is quicker, more refined, sounds better, and is more economical, it's also made by Yamaha IIRC, whereas the 1.3 is made by a team of alsatians.
