FIFA 08 Official Thread

You download it, and upload it elsewhere. If you e-mail me it I'll gladly upload it for you.

No worries, I can do it later... Just at work at the moment between meetings - so not at a computer with FTP access - or my emails on it.

Will be able to do it later though.

It's nothing fantastic, but it shows just how crap lower league teams are at hitting the target with headers :p

I'm getting a bit frustrated with FIFA now, it's just so unresponsive compared to PES.

I mean I loved it at first and I do actually appreciate it's a good game, but I can't imagine me playing it for the length of time I played PES6 for.

The only thing that's worrying me about the release of PES2008 is whether it will have the online features of FIFA08. I think we'll all agree that PES6's online section is pretty bog standard and FIFA have really stepped up with the video uploads and everything.

Anyone know if PES2008 will include any of these features?

Are the there any differences between the PS3 and 360 versions of Fifa 08?

what's it like online for both systems?

cheers

Same, Fifa was just a filler for the main event for me, the gameplay does get tiring very quickly, as for the online features for Pro Evo I would be very shocked if Konami did anything like EA has done, maybe they will bring in the tournaments that were in the PC version of PES6 which would be a good start.

The single biggest difference is without doubt the control pad. The PS3 has quite a large dead-zone on the analogue sticks on current pads, as a result, movement of the character, and more so, movement of the right stick to perform tricks is gimped in comparison. The difference was huge between demo's on both consoles, so if you do have both, get both demo's and try it out.

The other difference was that there is more definition on normal and specular maps on the Xbox360, but I doubt that will bother most people.

Because of those reasons I got it on the Xbox360.

I haven't really played much recently mainly due to time. But I have a feeling that I will sell this when PES 2008 comes out. I can't help but let the little things that annoy me ruin it for me when I am playing. I find it a chore to play.

I am late in joining this thread but I am in need of help. Ok so let's set the ground work, for all intense and purposes i am a PES 'fanboy'(people bash that word around a lot these days so I want to be cool and get in on the act) and I played the demo for fifa 08 and it inspired me to get it.

Ok so as a PES boy I have overcome a big hurdle (bought a Fifa game) now the next thing is understanding how to play it.

I have been trying and I am the first to admit I am pretty terrible but I want to give it a proper go so is there any tips you guys can give me than can help me get on with this game especially tips from other PES players that have helped them when playing fifa.

A couple of things I am struggling with at the moment are:
1. creating space for a shot on goal I seem to be able to rocket a shot from 30+ years and only just miss but even with well worked passing moves I don't seem to able to create the space to shoot at the top of the box.

2. defending crosses/corners, how do you get infront of the attacker to win the header? and also how do you stop your defence backing off way into the box and allowing the computer time to set up for a strike.

These may seem fairly simple things but you must remember the last fifa game I owned was 97 and it seems like a lot of things have changed since then!

You have to jostle with the defenders, or, alternatively, step back and then dash right infront of everyone at the last second and volley it in to the bottom corner. Both work well.

Why have they not allowed us to save replays to the hard drive, the only goals that are worth shouting about are the ones you score online, crazt decision not to include it.

Use RB or LB to hustle in front of your marker to win headers.

Unsure whether I'll buy PES, I went back to playing PES6 and it was like going back to play a game from the 90's, FIFA seemed vastly better in every department that PES6.

Although if PES2008 can better it, bring it on!

Best of both simulation and arcade football games in that aspect.

I just hope PES has co-op as that is mucho fun.

just downloading the demo's now, I have both PS3 & 360 ;-)

would prefer it on PS3, my 360 sounds like a jet fighter since I had it repaired by MS...

Yer thats fine but watching a replay of a goal against the CPU isnt as good as a 30 yarder against your best mate. when you play online.

On the flipside of that though, it's obvious why it's not in online play. Having someone score against you on PES for example, then watching 2 CPU replays, then panning around his own replay is one of the most annoying features of an online game I can ever remember, so I would assume that's why it's not on Fifa.

Don't let them score then :D
