Whoa, I really didn't think Eto'o would be priced at ~35k. Fellaini has been really good for me. He's just a brick wall and all defenders just bounce right off him.

I like to play really attacking so 3-5-2 is my preferred formation but having only 3 at the back causes a right panic on the counter. I've tried 4-3-3 and 4-1-2-1-2 but can't seem to find a good balance. Any other formations I should try out?

Depends what you like, in Fifa 13 4-2-3-1 was without doubt my favourite formation along with 4-3-3. Tried all other formations but hated them all.

In Fifa 14 i tried 4-2-3-1 but with the game being slower i found it to be more difficult so i am now using 4-1-2-1-2 :)
 
I'm very happy in div 3, can win 4 games no worries. After that just play for a draw, had no fun in div 2. Its a game after all and I want to enjoy it rather than raging in div 2.
 
Me and K1ll were discussing last night how frustrating it is that, if you want to do well in this game, you do not have any options of how to play other than lofted through balls, crosses or a combination of both.

Because of the utter randomness / ****ness of players' passing and first touch, it is absolutely impossible to play any sort of nice passing football. Dribbling is an utter waste of time versus good players and all this is discounting the weird button lag that seems to be a massive issue this year too.

It is extremely frustrating that you can build any team you want (chemistry allowing) but, regardless of this, you can only actually play FUT one way, making the freedom of team creation a complete waste of time.

It's not as if I am moaning because I suck at the game, my record is similar to 13 but I have played much less, but it's just stupid that you have to play in such a one-dimensional fashion.

Hear hear.

I abandoned a 4231 Premier League side as it just wasn't working due to needing to occasionally do a lofted through ball which to RVP wasn't really working that well.

The small, diminutive players are largely useless even with good passing stats unless they've got a lot of pace as well.

I had:

As a front 4. You'd think it would play well but it was awful. Tried David Silva, Mata and Ozil at different points too. I'd have 65% possession with 90% passing accuracy and just have no way to get through with the players. Even with 4* skills I couldn't do anything other than eventually lump it in or chip it over the top.

I can kind of bypass the need for that with Ibra and Ronaldo but that's not really a very accessible option for most people.

I've settled on 442, 41212 and 433(2) as my favoured formations. My 41212 is a bit sweaty. Got Benteke (power header), Sturridge and Schurrle / Nani and I do cross it occasionally which of course scores a good amount of goals :(.

Edit: Why is K1ll moaning about crossing? He used to bring pain to me with his fast Russian League cross team last year on PS3! :p
 
Wide play was at least skilled last year. You had to have timing and ability to score from crosses.

I had a 442 hybrid with Bale LM and Navas RM. It was very fun.
 
Indeed. I know we've said it before but what a beauty that formation was in 13.

Ronaldo and Ibra are benched for a bit. Fed up of people playing like ********* (richardheads is not on the swear filter :eek:?) just because I have Ronaldo and Ibra. People either quit, exploit the game or put their controllers down against me probably more than 65% of the time against that team. Kind of ruining the game for me a little.

This is my go to team in FIFA 14 at the moment.

Nice team :D love the german league this year generally.

Do try Farfan though if you get chance....he seems absolutely amazing for me. Robben was by far my favourite RF/RW last year on the entire game but I'm really not so sure this year :/
 
Robben is immense for me so far. It helps that both sides I've got very good options and Reus and Robben suit my playstyle with 4* skills. Shaqiri was surprisingly good as well. 4* weak foot and skills is good for a left roofted right sided player.

Want cutty in wingers for this formation so rules Farfan out. He's also not Robben :p.

I'm embaressingly legit, but on the bright side, if Ibra comes down to around 700K, I can buy him just off the back of the contract sales! Hmm..had a 442(2) idea, but Crespo and Ibra both are M/L, so could fall back a bit too much, tempted to try Messi & Crespo with Neymar behind Messi.. Hmm..
