FIFA 19

I'm starting to think this FIFA just isn't going to my cup of tea this year. The game doesn't suit my style, I have no patience with slow build up play or possession football. I'm just used to fast, smooth counter attacking football and the game play restricts this so much. I literally have to change how I play which I have used for as many FIFA's as I can remember. Even when I get the odd win there is no enjoyment as I play crap, I'd actually like losing as long as I could play my game but there is no hint of this ever being the case. Argggh

Strange, thats how I tend to play, fast direct build up play/counter, seems ok to me on the whole. Play a 4 2 3 1 formation.

It just feels clunky, the passing and control are so inconsistent you can't rely on speed, you feel you have to control the ball using the close dribbling and then pick your pass so carefully, by the time the opposition have everyone back in their own half. Tiki-taka style has well and truly gone.

I do rate my progress on my win/loss record. My record is just W/L/W/L/W/L. I can't ever get in a rhythm.

Have you messed with custom tactics and different formations, fast flowing counter attacks are definitely possible but a lot of people are using really deep tactics and don't over commit when going forward. When I was letting my fullbacks overlap I was getting rinsed by crosses.

I have messed with just about every option in the game, especially custom tactics, I tend to be cautious with the usual fullbacks/CM on stay back, I'm messing with camera angles :) - I did similar with 18 until I had a winning formula. I just can't get my head around why I was pretty good at 18 and after an equally horrible start, using 41212 (2) narrow was great for me, it seems everything that was successful in 18 doesn't work in 19.

Maybe I should just go back to 18...!

Try something like a 4231 with the CAM’s all set to stay forward and striker to get in behind. Play fairly narrow and with fast build up. Perhaps try constant pressure too as it forces mistakes and you can launch a counter more quickly.

I don’t play possession and try to go from front to back as fast as I can usually, however I tend to attempt timed finesse shots from anywhere within 30 yards of the goal :p

4231 I think I have used enough to know it doesn't work for me, I'll be going to the 5atb formations at this rate :)

Out of interest, those who play wider formations, 433 and the like, what camera angle do you use? I forget about the wide players often as I can't see them and find co-op is needed, the mini map I rarely use as the minute I look at it I get tackled!

Boring teams alert..

I've finally sussed out the game and doing really well with 4321..unfortunately it will all change again when the patch comes out but at least I've never relied on AI defending!

I have 260k to spend :D

It's keeping me interested this year being careful with coins and with tinkering with small improvements, I've screwed myself out of loads of coins going for untradeable packs from rivals. Two really strong teams though for anyone who wants to start from the basics, I've beaten a lot of super sides with it. A lot are untradeables but the following players I think I'll use all year round: Lacazette, Depay, Rabiot, Sokratis, Kongobia. All 9 chem just about.

Finished with 19 wins.

Current team (switching to 4231 in game):

One thing I'd suggest to anyone - learn timed finesse shots. The majority of my goals are from 20-25 yards out, as soon as you get a bit of space, timed finesse to the far corner. The only way to defend it is to move the keeper, which most people won't do, and that doesn't guarantee anything. First time timed finesse shots are even more effective, Hazard is insanely good at them, the amount of curve he gets is just ridiculous. Reus too.

Not had Neymar long but I like him so far, think his price will start rising too. KDB isn't ideal at CDM but is doing the job for now.

I did read some guides but still can't get my head around time shooting.

Do you tap shoot to 'activate' it? Then what?
Or do you tap shoot then keep your finger on it until its the perfect shot? Presumably you can still put as much power into a shot as you like or is that not the idea?

I don't have many issues scoring hence not really fussed learning it!
