I am creating this thread to help (at least a little bit) to everyone who recently got into FIFA 19 or haven't played the latest versions. I was kinda out of the loop for so long, but out of the blue all of my friends got infected with FIFA 19 (a couple of them may have played some FIFA 18 but nothing serious) and I felt like I was missing out.
I want to share a couple of things I learned over the course of a week while doing some research about the game.
- I will strongly recommend watching some twitch streams. This will help you get behind the idea of the "modern" FIFA if you had a break or will give you a general idea about sports games if you have never played one. Personal preference - I like
AHugeGorilla's stream. The things I knew about the game are all a lie now. This is a completely new environment and you will need to spend a lot of time getting used to it.
- Watch some youtube videos. Watch a whole bunch of them. I watched training videos, free kick, gameplay, game mechanics. Hell, I've even watched videos about trading and ultimate team and stuff.
This particular youtube videos playlist has helped me a lot. It's one hour long and it's covering the basics of the game so it is a great start.
- Please be patient while playing. Not every move you have imagined in your head will look exactly the same on screen and you can't do wonders after playing a couple of games.
- Never blame yourself or any of the players (dude, it's not Neymar's fault that you don't know how to shoot penalties). Getting angry for no reason will make you lose the next match too.
- Practice as much as possible. Ask some of your friends to play some casual games with you, training mode is always an idea.
- Make sure you choose a play style that fits your personality. Are you full of adrenaline and wanna rush into everything? Then find your attacking formation.
- And last but not least, relax and have some fun, it's just a game - and it's a really cool one. You will enjoy it, it's pretty competitive, we do a lot of wagers with my friends and I usually end up paying for beers and chips but who cares, I will get to the point where I own everybody (eventually).
P.S Do not play 2vs2 provoking the opponents when you are at a friends house because someone might just lose it and destroy a controller and leave all salty.
Cheers, hope someone finds use of my words.
