Fifa officials including vice president Jeffrey Webb arrested, Blatter getting it at last.

... Firstly, sorry Cosimo.

Secondly, :D.

:D

The FA make a statement and will continue to back Platini until investigation concludes:

FA statement

This is an extremely disappointing day for football. We trust the FIFA Ethics Committee will conduct the investigations in an independent, robust and timely manner. As we said last week, there are key questions that have arisen in the past month that must be answered by those concerned.

“This important process – along with the investigation by the Swiss Attorney General - should not be allowed to affect the need for urgent change at FIFA. Our over-riding concern has always been for full and transparent reform as soon as possible and this remains The FA's priority.

“David Gill, the British member of the FIFA Executive, along with Wolfgang Niersbach, the German representative, have today called for an emergency meeting of the FIFA Executive to discuss this morning's events. They are conscious that both the President and General Secretary of FIFA are currently suspended.

“We also understand there will be a meeting of the 54 UEFA nations as soon as next week.

“The FA committed this summer to supporting Mr Platini in his bid to become the next President of FIFA. At The FA Board meeting last week, we decided that remained our position while inquiries into certain allegations were being investigated.

“We now await the results of both the Ethics Committee inquiry and the investigation of the Swiss Attorney General. We note that Mr Platini has issued a strong statement protesting his innocence.”

The final joke as two more good ones take over at HQ:

Issa Hayatou, president of the Confederation of African Football since 1998, was appointed acting president of Fifa yesterday despite allegations relating to his own conduct. He has faced censure by the International Olympic Committee over bribery claims.

Ángel María Villar Llona, head of the Spanish Football Association, will provisionally replace Mr Platini as Uefa president — but Mr Villar Llona remains under investigation by Fifa’s ethics committee for failing to co-operate with an investigation into the bidding for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups.

I think that William Shakespeare bloke would have loved this FIFA story. Just when you think it can't get any sillier and pathetic FIFA somehow find a way to do just that.

Are you sure you didn't get that list of candidates from The Day Today?

All I can hear when reading that list is Chris Morris's voice!

The interview Blatter gave is incredibly telling and is very similar to my take on it all along. One, Platini is bent, he made promises to the USA about his vote, then suddenly all this Qatar money is in french football and his vote changes to Qatar along with others in Uefa.

Two, Platini's initial helping the investigation was nothing more than an attempt at a hostile take over of Fifa, but didn't realise the US guys were completely against him(because he's apparently a complete idiot).

I said the USA is bent as hell and this whole thing is retribution for losing their world cup bid, shock horror. I said something along the lines of corrupt american concacaf/fifa delegates with a corrupt bid for the world cup and corrupt politicians/senators/business people behind it, when they lost they've used their corrupt influence in america to start a corrupt investigation(going after the people they want out, magically not suggesting their bid or the people involved are corrupt.. except the one guy who failed and is made a scapegoat). They want their own people in at Fifa so they get their own way.

Uefa have been trying to oust Blatter for years with the media in europe, uk/france in particular, going after Blatter for years about being corrupt while our FA, uefa and Platini are 'more' corrupt. Somehow everyone has a hard on for Blatter while ignoring that our media is biased and the people giving them stories just want Blatter's job.

None of them are good guys, but holding up Blatter as the worst is a joke. The federations are where most of the real corruption goes on. Think of it this way, Uefa want all the cups, all the money and all the power in Europe.... Blatter doesn't give a damn where the world cup is held does he, any payments he gets are not biased as to a location. It's the local federations that fight and jostle between each other to win bids and it's local businesses who will stand to make the most money. Uefa tried a hostile take over, now the American federation is trying a take over itself, investigating and getting people it wants out of Fifa while elections happen at least.. glossing over all their people involved in corrupt bids, why, because they both want the power themselves and don't want Uefa to have all the power of Fifa.

its true what you say i recon blatter let people get away with murder so he could stay in power.:o

Anyone else thinking Blatter is currently laying the groundwork towards faking his own death in the near future?

They are all corrupt, not sure when people will get it. 90% of big business is corrupt as ****. Does my head in when people get all irate at one particular guy. Media is being manipulated and is corrupt and it's currently being used as a tool by corrupt people to remove Blatter so they can get their corrupt guy in, yet everyone has a hard on for Blatter while ignoring the rest. They want you angry at Blatter so the next guy can come in, be corrupt but everyone can kid themselves into thinking everything is fine because Blatter left.

I remember stating strongly at the time that our bid for the world cup was corrupt in the sense that we had absolutely no chance of winning, none, yet our representative basically lied to the government saying we should put a bid in. We spent 20+million on the bid that had no chance and how much did our representative pocket of that 20mil?

They are now saying we should sue to get that back because they knew it was going to USA(was supposed to but went Qatar... due to bought votes), except he is on the Fifa board, he also knew it was supposed to go to the USA so he also knew England had no chance while he was asking for cash to run a bid he knew couldn't succeed.

But let's all ignore that and get angry at Blatter because the papers want us to, right?
