FIFA Women's World Cup 2023 **spoilers** [20th July - 20th August 2023]

Bear in mind he’s technically her boss, used his position of power to try and pressure her to make the public statement which the FA wrote to absolve him of all blame.

He’s also apart of loads of very influential groups, like being uefa VP and using that to threaten to pull out of FIFA
You screw up so massively on the public stage and have the audacity to basically say it didn’t happen, continue to follow that line as the house of cards is collapsing all around you is indeed mental.

For the record he did apologise, but it wasn't deemed good enough for reasons. Its so toxic.
As I said mental.

Yeh the exact quote is -

On Monday, Rubalies said: "I was completely wrong, I have to admit it. It was without bad intention at a time with a lot of excitement. In the moment, we saw it as natural, but outside a commotion has formed.

"I have to apologise, learn from this, and understand that when you are president you have to be more careful."

That’s is pathetic attempt. I mean he’s not even mentioned her at all.

It started okay, then it kinda moved onto 'I didn't realise everyone would be this sensitive about it, jeez, I won't make that mistake again'.

He used the word 'we' which can only mean her.

It's straight out of the Trump/BoJo playbook. Just flat out say that things are untrue or didn't happen despite evidence the contrary. Label anything you don't like as "fake news" or similar, basically undermining opponents with a barrage of retorts, threats to sue, subject changes, giving the impression you are speaking from a position of absolute confidence (even when rudimentary investigation would expose it as absolute BS). Wave your hands around a lot when speaking ("Distractor" hand gesture). It's kind of this weird phenomena where just complete blunt stonewalling can somehow win people over, maybe in the local Spanish FA environment that usually works but this case has blown up too big for him.

Now that sexism is solved, the tournament was quite good wasn't it?
I struggle to remember a lot of it tbh. From what i saw it was ok and its certainly growing. I have started to see "simulation" come into the game though, first time ive ever really noticed it in the womens game.
