FIFA Women's World Cup 2023 **spoilers** [20th July - 20th August 2023]

It is true, take a sense check of what the overwhelming majority here are telling you. The fact you don't think kissing a woman without her consent isn't sexual assault speaks volumes. Seriously, educate yourself or carrying on doubling down, digging deep and making a fool out of yourself.

I think in both situations it should just be an apology and then move on as I don't think either are sexually motivated, although possibly inappropriate from a power position. She looked like she could give as good as she got with regard to the outpouring of emotion.

An apology could likely resolve many scenarios like that assuming they're not part of a wider pattern of behaviour - which in the world cup case may be. I'm not convinced on giving as good as she got, but I could see how he got overexcited and stepped over the line, people do the wrong thing all the time.
I agree regarding the physical differences but is there really a threat, in that moment?
In this scenario in isolation no not really, but we don't know any other interactions they've had together.
Its funny most don't have an answer when presented with the situation reversed, they would rather ignore it as it doesn't fit in with their immovable view. I appreciate the sensible reply.
People rarely do think about the roles reversed, it annoys me quite a bit seeing film/TV where women swoon/go feral over topless men and I just think if the roles were reversed it'd be said that it's not ok

I had contemplated whether other stuff had gone on prior so that's a fair point.

Wtf  Most points I have made have been ignored and not addressed. What happened to taking a view on something and then talking about it? Saying 'Waa your talking nonsense' doesn't really contribute anything meaningful.

Can't fathom how this guy can't smell the coffee. At best his behaviour was a mistake, at worst it was an assault and completely inappropriate demonstration of male power. Either way the guy should have resigned. The world has moved on and mostly for the better when it comes to this sort of thing. Can't believe what was a pretty good tournament has been overshadowed by this nonsense.

The media seem to be more focussed on a single photo of this incident rather than the video of it. It looks like she’s still smiling afterwards and it was just two people caught up in the emotion of a huge event.

My gut feeling with this one is she subsequently came under pressure from other people to complain.

She said in the changing rooms candidly she wasnt happy about it.

Of course she's bloomin' smiling afterwards! She just won the World Cup. It's the absolute highlight of her career.

I suspect a clear, unambiguous, public apology acknowledging his mistake and committing to do better could have defused the whole thing; rather than it being strictly necessary to resign. He's handled it so badly, and the rest of the Spanish FA have covered themselves in his effluent.

Quite.

That's quite something from someone who will happily defend Mason Greenwood. Mental.

I should ignore you really but I feel bound to correct. I don't think I have defended Mason Greenwood. I have said that we do not know what went on and shouldn't rush to judgement without the benefit of all the evidence and that in the eyes of the law he has not been convicted of a crime. Regardless of that I have always been of the view that Mason had to leave United as there was too much media interest and prejudice due to the very public way things played out. This case is very different as the act took place in full public view. So to conflate the two cases says more about your inability to understand the issues than mine.
