FIFA Women's World Cup 2023 **spoilers** [20th July - 20th August 2023]

She wasn’t in this match, not sure it’s violent conduct as it wasn’t a stamp but guessing they‘ll put maximum ban in place

A stamp is usually anything where the player is adjudged to have intentional stood on another player. She definitely did that. Its almost never what you would call a proper stamp.

She didn’t even put all her weight on her leg, if they want to say it’s violent conduct then fair enough but there was more force behind the push on Daly than James put under her foot, stupid thing to do but to call it a stamp and violent conduct is over egging it

The ref announced it was violent conduct and it can only be violent conduct. You can either get sent off for 2 yellows, denying a clear goalscoring opportunity, serious foul play (a dangerous tackle which that wasn't) or violent conduct.

Stamp doesn't mean it has to require a lot of force, she stood on the opponent on purpose. It was stupid and needless.

One thing I liked is that the player that got stamped on didn't even seem to be that bothered by it. Can you imagine the same in the men's game? They'd end up getting stretchered off :p

Nah, they would have made a miraculous recovery once the healing power of the red card shineth down upon their opponent.

Interesting jump from Kelly in her run up. Got it over the line.
Looked like Jorginho.

Don't forget a muscle spasm causing them to close and then reopen one eye.
Personally I didn't think it was the worst 'stamp' HOWEVER it was definitely avoidable, it was like one of those Vinny Jones dark arts things where you 'accidentally' inflict pain on your opponent, she knows what she's doing deliberately treading on her so definite red card. Not sure how it works in the world cup but I always thought a red for violent conduct was a 3 match ban not 1 match. Wouldn't surprise me if FIFA make it a 2 match ban so she could play the final if England make it there, she was one of the stars of the group stage so they will want all the big guns on show especially with USA and Germany knocked out.

Regarding the pen that got overturned, I'm not convinced there was enough evidence to prove it was a clear mistake to have have given it. I was sat there thinking hmmm check the VAR officials email probably some Nigerian prince needs help moving his $400m inheritance...
