FIFA World Cup 2014 - GROUP A [Brazil, Croatia, Mexico, Cameroon - 12/13/17/18/23 June] **spoilers**

Anyone who appeals that much before hitting the floor deserves to be shot. Fred was crap all game too, thought he'd been subbed after about 20 minutes he was that annonymous.

Is there any gif of the the 3rd goal when Brazil win the ball? it looked like the Croatian player got absolutely flattened and the ref was only 10yrds with a great view.

The highlights are on iPlayer. It looks a fair enough challenge to me.

Damn just looked at some highlights as I had to miss the first half and OMG just seen Neymar's elbow, can't believe he stayed on.

Jeez even worse then I originally thought, yep we might as well just go home now I agree!

It's annoying yes, but on the flip side, great first game. Dodgy decisions, lots of goals, pretty much both teams attacking! Certainly not a boring opener :)

Would be ****ed if I were Croation, however I'm not :D Hosts, always win their opening game!

What aniod me almost as must the cheating and poor referring was how to the TV commentator acted when Brazil scored, you would think it was the greatest goal ever and Brazil had won the world cup already. It was truly embrassing to have to listen to.

I don't really follow football but after watching that "match" I really hope Brazil get absolutely trounced by either Spain or The Netherlands in the knock outs (assuming they win their group and have to play the runners up from group C).

The elbow to the face, pathetic falling over/diving for the penalty and then the disallowed Croatian goal made an absolute mockery over what could have been a good game.

The own goal did make me chuckle though.

Was very unimpressed with Brazil last night. First of all the over acting of getting themselves psyched up was cringe worthy. Secondly, they actually played pretty badly. All their goals were either lucky of goalkeeping error.

Shouldn't have had a penalty and Neymar should have been sent off for his arm in the face.

Croatia caused them so many problem by just getting at them. Wouldn't surprise me to see a better team easily beat Brazil. I really hope they don't win it now. I've gone from being happy if they won it, to really hoping they don't after one game.

What's so unusual about last nights game is how so many people are unanimous in the decisions being utter tripe. I'm still so annoyed with last night and its put a big downer on what should be an exciting time for football fans. Lets hope this poor refereeing doesn't continue.

Well i mustve watched a different match iguess because i thought Brazil deserved to win. Yes it was a soft penalty but Fred had his back to goal and was pulled off balance so he fell backwards so yeah penalty. Sure Fred went down easy but thats par for course. Secondly.. a yellow for Neymar elbow was correct..he wasnt looking he didnt throw it at the guys face..he just put his arm out. Third..yes croat goal was correctly ruled out because he jumped into Julio Cesar thats a foul on the gk...look at the replay he goes into Cesar first. Finally i am glad Brazil won because Croatian were fouling them all over the park..especially Marcelo and Neymar. I thought they only had a few real chances whereas Brazil had plenty. Brazil werent at their best but im sure they will improve.....also im happy as i correctly predicted 3 - 1 for our work sweepstake :D

Unfortunately dodgy decisions are part and parcel of Football. Ref doesn't have the benefit of replays and a lot of these decisions looked at in real time do look like fouls/penalties. Some are a complete travesty(Lampards "goal" in the last world cup), some are 50/50.

I think your work sweepstake might be giving you some bias there. I had bets on Brazil, but I still feel they were gifted the game, I actually felt really sorry for Croatia.

Neymar looked at Modric then threw his arm out deliberately to make contact with his face, that's a red card all day long. Fred wasn't pulled down, Lovren had his hand on his shoulder...that's not a foul. The Croat player has every right to go for that ball, he won the ball and Cesar clattered into him. There was nothing wrong with it.

I agree with Brazil getting all the decisions, and I wasn't impressed with them at all, but the outrage at Neymar not being sent off is pathetic. The only thing the ref got right all night.
