Last time I tried it nope, ITV really do suck at online stuffs.

Brazil are badly let down by their strikers. I wouldn't give you anything for Fred, Hulk or Jo!

I agree. Brazil have traditionally had great strikers like a Romario or Ronaldo in their team, with goals from midfield and full back as well. They appear to be overly reliant on Neymar at the moment.

The game could have easily finished something like 2-2 if any of the decisions had gone Croatia's way (which they quite easily could have done).

ITV are ****.

Catching up on the opening ceremony and the opening game now :). Opening ceremony is really bright and colourful :).

I so hope Brazil don't even qualify after last nights game.

I really hate Neymar, nothing but a cheat.

Ref should be hung. Would not surprise me if he was bribed.

Quite embarrassing all round.

I thought Croatia played quite well, they deserved a point at least.

Was anyone else really bored last night? Sorry if this has already been covered

The opening ceremony and ITV build up was boring, I actually enjoyed the match up until the penalty call though.

It was obvious from kickoff that the referee was a bit of a moron because every time a Croatian tried to tackle Marcello he just flopped over and got an automatic freekick, the decisions late on which heavily influenced the outcome are what ruined my enjoyment of the game though.

Neymar yellow/red - when I initially saw it I thought it was a 50/50 call, he did look at Modric and hold out a clumsy elbow but he didn't throw an elbow like you do when you want to hurt someone. I gave the referee the benefit of the doubt here.

Penalty - Shocking decision that I immediately felt was a weak referee playing to the demands of the crowd.

Disallowed Croatian goal - at this point I'm thinking the referee is bent.

Foul to win ball for Brazil's third goal - referee just seemed to completely ignore the Croat getting wiped out even though he had given Brazil fouls time and time again just for falling down with minimal contact.

Brazil were all over the place at 2-1, could have very easily conceded another (arguably should have with the disallowed second) and suddenly it's not a very good result. They're dodgy at the back in my eyes.

Neymar is obviously a good player, but for me I think he's massively overrated.

As with any Android device it works on some but not on others.

****ty OS.

...snip...

Spot on. Very boring build up but the game itself was okay but totally ruined by a dodgy (probably bribed by Fifa/desperate Blatter) ref. Brazil looked very average on the whole but Neymar looked bright. Would've been interesting to see the Croat goal stand and the Brazilians try to respond tho.

Disgusting show by Brasil, I turned the TV off about the 70 minute mark. The dive for the penalty was enough for me. I won't be watching Brasil play again, what a horrible team they are.

You won't be watching much of the WC then as it will be the same from the majority of teams :p

I doubt we'll see as many dives and dodgy decisions as that match.

There are dives in almost every single game you will ever watch. The hyperbolic nature of the responses in this thread, as if Fred was the first player to have ever done it is down right embarrassing itself. It happens in almost every premier league game, the attempts to go down softly in the box, and almost every single week in the league we see one or two penalties given.

It's fine to say you dislike it because it's crap when the outcome of a game is based on a decision like that, but to pretend it isn't normal is just nuts.

I forget who it was bringing up the ref's nationality and saying only top european refs should be in the world cup was embarrassing also, considering at least two of the "best" premier league refs have both made horrendous game effecting mistakes in such tournaments, Webb failing to send off the single most blatant red card I can think of in a world cup final no less.

be outraged, but lets not make up crap. Marcelo went down soft as anything at fullback, Sagna does that 4 times a game, so do most fullbacks in that position, backing into the corner with little support. Marcelo made it look particularly pathetic but again, normal. Penalty, dive, sure, but frequently given and most strikers do this pretty often.

I'd like to see an official statement from the ref over the disallowed goal, again we see painfully soft "challenging the keeper" decisions, but it looked like it went out to me. Why there wasn't a camera down the goal line and no replay to show if it went out was strange though.

We'll see soft decisions in favour of keepers, dives, and elbows/bad tackles that deserve reds and don't get them throughout the tournament, throughout next season, and in to the future. Though Blatter is now talking up video replays for the future, which would utterly change the face of football and these situations.
