FIFA World Cup 2014 - GROUP D [Uruguay, Costa Rica, England, Italy - 14/19/20/24 June] **spoilers**

Glad to see it has only taken a week for the 'it must be the managers fault' mentality to return.... I had hoped that after this particular failure people may start to understand that the English game needs fundamental changes in order to bring our players up to the same technical level as our international rivals. Nevermind, see you in X years time when I'm sure you will also be calling for the head of whichever sap they can convince to take on the job!

You can't tell me that we have a bunch of players that have worse basics than 70% of sides out there. Its simply not true. If we look at all the teams that do well, its because of their tactics and formation and obviously the workrate.

Yeah, that poor, multi-million pound a year sap :(

Isnt Ox still un-fit?

I thought I read the other day he got re-injured in a training session to rule him out of the group stage - may well have imagined it though.

Cant see any reason to select Foster though (unless he has had a pay off from City to give Hart a rest lol). I agree with giving Lamps a game to include some experience and leadership, as a whooping would do more harm than good imo as suggested above.

Stick any manager that is at the World Cup (bar hodgepodge) in charge of England and they would have qualified

People saying its not the managers fault should look at Netherlands who have a weaker squad than England's and a much harder group , would hodgson have done as good if he was in charge of them ? Nope LVG even has a Nottingham Forest player scoring goals

Italy: Buffon, De Sciglio, Chiellini, Darmian, Marchisio, Balotelli, Barzagli, Immobile, Bonucci, Pirlo, Verratti.

Uruguay: Muslera, Godin (c), Pereira, Rodriguez, Suarez, Gimenez, Lodeiro, Arevalo, Gonzalez, Cavani, Caceres.

The Netherlands also have a few world class players...we don't. That being said, its completely the manager's responsibility and he shouldn't continue. Playing an aging Gerrard alongside Henderson is asking for trouble especially down the flanks.

Playing a "reserve" team in a world cup game, dead rubber or not is a joke.
