FIFA World Cup 2014 - GROUP D [Uruguay, Costa Rica, England, Italy - 14/19/20/24 June] **spoilers**

I get why people want Suarez suspended, but is it fair?

he is property of Liverpool. What he did he did it with the Uruguay shirt. Shy should his club pay for it?! I swear this system is well and truly ****ed up! So a player goes on international duty, and he gets injured. What does the national team do? The club STILL have to pay his wage, they have to medicate the player and they have to deal with the loss in price of the player. It's even worse when the injury is long, like 6 months.

The club pays the wages not vice versa. if the player can't play for the nation is fine. He is property of the CLUB.

Imo, whatever he gets, it needs to be national team based. If he gets 10+ match ban, it should be a ban from the national team (that would be like 1/2 years, missing the Copa America too!). Personally I feel that if something happens to a player when on international duty (say an injury) the national team should pay the wages of the player until he is match fit, the money of the people medicating him, and a compensation (based on the injury length, type of injury etc.). If a nation is not ready to pay these fines then they can not call up the player 9if you call up the player you automatically accept these rules).

I know this method is NOT viable because the national teams do not have that much money, but it really takes the ****.

I'm pretty sure that clubs are insured now if a player gets injured on international duty, I expect that it applies for the rare occasions on which they get a blanket ban as well.

If Suarez gets a blanket football ban you can better your bottom dollar Liverpool will appeal it.

But surely this would be an international ban?
Would the ban spill into the club games?
The last ban he had was 10 club games only (IIRC) - International games were not affected.

Of course it is fair.

If he did that on the street and now locked up and then in prison for a year in Brazil, Liverpool can't do a thing about it, they are not going to let him out on match day just because he didn't bite someone in a Liverpool shirt.

What he does elsewhere affects all aspects of his life, it is not mutually exclusive. It is time he learn that lesson too.

What does it pay? Compensation? Wage?

Still, you pay to get insurance. Added expense for clubs.

It's an unfair system.

I don't think you understand. i do think he deserves a ban. If he gets a penalty, and can't play for Liverpool when doing something without a Liverpool shirt, Liverpool can't be held responsible. If he goes to prison, you would terminate his contract (stop giving wages), and sue him for a hefty compensation (which won't equal the value of the player generally, but it would come damn close).

The problem with Suarez is due to his massive buck teeth overbite, just closing his mouth runs a 1:10 chance of biting someone in a 5m / 270 degree radius. Its not his fault!

And the club knew exactly what they were getting when they gave him a new contract as DM said above.

I hope FIFA have got the balls to really punish him, otherwise it sends out a really bad message.

Why? Has a player that's committed multiple counts of violent conduct been given a ban at all levels before?

The nature of it (and unpredictable nature of FIFA) might surely have an impact? It's a pretty exceptional situation.

There is often compensation for getting injured with the nation, the insurance cost on national teams is huge as a result and it does cover wages, but not always. It depends as like any insurance policy lawyers get involved and they try and prove pre-existing injury, etc, etc.

Either way, Liverpool knew he played for Uruguay when the chose to buy him, they also, knew about his behaviour when they chose to buy him, being that he was serving a ban in Holland when they bought him IIRC(maybe had just finished it). They also knew exactly what kind of trouble he caused when they gave him a new contract not that long ago.

Liverpool knew precisely what they were getting with Suarez. I could have some sympathy if, and only if, this was a complete one off and not at all predictable, but what happened was entirely, utterly predictable.

Liverpool knew the risks when they signed him. He had a history of this conduct already. Then he did it again in a Liverpool shirt. Now hes done it a third time on the world stage.

Liverpool deserve no sympathy here.

Cantona. Though what he did was different and presumably wasn't covered by the actual rules.

He attacked a fan. I meant violent conduct on other players. I can think of several players that have been sent off many times for violent conduct and still only received a standard ban.

The system requires that Liverpool are punished. That is true. What I am criticizing, is the system ;)

The ban he got for biting Ivanovic was deserved. The one with Uruguay? Give him a 20 match ban from Uruguay.

i can see why Liverpool should be punished. He is your man and you are responsible for whatever he does. I am not sure it is entirely fair on the team.

What happens in the case of an injury? Do you think national teams should pay something?

whats the problem

fifa orders suarez to wear the hannibal Lecter mask

eveyones safe and happy

on a side note does anyone think this is how the zombie apocalypse will start?

It escalates within the season doesn't it? But then next season the slates wiped clean again.
