Yeah, I don't think he'll be close to 100%. Could be another Diego Costa in the CL final scenario...
Suarez is another level to Costa though. He'll certainly have am impact will Suarez and will need marshalling.

Think Baggio and the Italian team were under pressure to play him with the sponsors and Fifa, my italian friends who watched that match told me he was a spectator just jogging around for the final. My thoughts exactly , if someone has superb google skills or too much time on their hands how many times has a "star" player been rushed back from injury for a big game and it has backfired compared to the said player doing something worthwhile?
I remember Roberto Baggio getting rushed back and doing nothing on the flip side Messi played for Barca in some Champo league game when they were doing nothing and scored or created it.
In fact the messi example is the only one I can think of.
Anyone fancy taking up the challenge
Hmm, did he have the same injury as Vidal then, keyhole surgery on meniscus. Seems that stories of Vidal's surgery were 7th May and Suarez it is 22nd May, so a decent gap.
However, Vidal played in the first game for 60ish mins playing hard, and yesterday he ran like a mad men. You would have to guess that Vidal had been in training for at least a couple weeks to get back to that level of fitness. So I would suspect Suarez has had time to heal, but not necessarily the time to get fitness back.
I wouldn't compare it to Costa either(or Ronaldo/Messi) a hamstring going can go and cause immense pain in usage. Costa was rushed back well before the usual length of time a hamstring takes you out for, meniscus tears, well, look at Vidal, shorter term and complete recovery is very possible. 1-2 weeks is fairly usual for being back after meniscus surgery. Hamstrings can take you out for 6+ weeks easily and be very problematic in terms reinjury.
There was literally zero sign at all yesterday of Vidal being impaired by his knee.
Suarez clearly won't be 100%, doesn't matter what the Uruguayan camp comes out with. Had he been fit he would have played some part against Costa Rica.
So, their best player is unfit, defence is poor (being generous) ... if we can't beat them then we deserve to be coming home. Simple.
It's quite possible the reason he was out of the last game was completely different, IE he was training and just rolled his ankle and needed a couple of days, or a cold, anything really.
It could be that they ultimately thought they'd walk the game, and instead of having him ready for the game he did extra training that day to be better prepared for the rest of the tournament. So even when the game went south he'd done 4 hours training or something that you wouldn't do on a match day and he'd have both been knackered, crap and maybe risked injury at a delicate time.
I doubt the game will rest on Suarez being brilliant or terrible, playing or not. if the rest of the team steps up a significant amount from their pretty poor performance against Costa Rica then they could win without him. If Suarez is brilliant(or ready to be) but the team are again crap then it might not help at all.
Fact of the matter is, we can beat Uruguay, we should beat Uruguay and if we can't then we don't deserve to go any further.
I really hope we stick a few past them as well, we rarely score more than a couple in tournament games. Be nice to win 3 or 4 nil.
i feel a uruguayan surprise coming up

Suarez off after the first tackle.
Via red card or injury? Or equally as likely?
I'm getting butterflies![]()
I'm on the train home, so will have to avoid any noise in case anyone lets a spoiler out ... i've got it on record, so will be about half an hour behind everyone else. If someone texts me, or messages me i'll be absolutely raging.
