FIFA World Cup 2014 - GROUP D [Uruguay, Costa Rica, England, Italy - 14/19/20/24 June] **spoilers**

Saying that Italy's defence is one of the strongest in the competition...

I don't agree with that at all,

The team that started against England was more of a botch job defence. Barzagli returning from injury, a slow Chiellini.

England had chances, they didn't take them. If they do the same tonight, England will be going home.

I think if we play like we did against Italy, we should win tonight. Uruguay looked poor in their opening game and I don't think Suarez will be fully fit.

2-0 to England. ;)

I don't disagree DM, he's not done himself any favours though I do think he's been easily led by his agent who seems a bit of a dodgy guy.

Just found this picture of Rooney's agent offering him more sage advice.

England team unchanged: Hart; G. Johnson, Cahill, Jagielka, Baines; J. Henderson, Gerrard; Sterling, Rooney, Welbeck; Sturridge

Rooney expected to start behind Sturridge.

Yeah, I don't think he'll be close to 100%. Could be another Diego Costa in the CL final scenario...

My thoughts exactly , if someone has superb google skills or too much time on their hands how many times has a "star" player been rushed back from injury for a big game and it has backfired compared to the said player doing something worthwhile?

I remember Roberto Baggio getting rushed back and doing nothing on the flip side Messi played for Barca in some Champo league game when they were doing nothing and scored or created it.

In fact the messi example is the only one I can think of.

Anyone fancy taking up the challenge

Bets on how long Suarez lasts before he breaks down ? No way can he be fit

Hmm, did he have the same injury as Vidal then, keyhole surgery on meniscus. Seems that stories of Vidal's surgery were 7th May and Suarez it is 22nd May, so a decent gap.

However, Vidal played in the first game for 60ish mins playing hard, and yesterday he ran like a mad men. You would have to guess that Vidal had been in training for at least a couple weeks to get back to that level of fitness. So I would suspect Suarez has had time to heal, but not necessarily the time to get fitness back.

I wouldn't compare it to Costa either(or Ronaldo/Messi) a hamstring going can go and cause immense pain in usage. Costa was rushed back well before the usual length of time a hamstring takes you out for, meniscus tears, well, look at Vidal, shorter term and complete recovery is very possible. 1-2 weeks is fairly usual for being back after meniscus surgery. Hamstrings can take you out for 6+ weeks easily and be very problematic in terms reinjury.

There was literally zero sign at all yesterday of Vidal being impaired by his knee.
