FIFA World Cup 2014 - Semi-finals [8th - 9th July] **spoilers**

Holland's most effective, most creative midfielder goes off....... I like De Jong but that shouldn't be a true statement. The rest of the midfield have been woeful, even just there, not really sure it's a foul but what a terrible touch, needed to pass that 5 yards on to his left and instead ends up losing it. Terrible quality stuff from Holland's midfield. No idea if RVP would be in form or not tonight, they won't give him the ball.

Robben, maybe a bit full of himself, his one good run in the middle the pass to RVP was the clear option but tried to beat the whole defence on his own. They played as a team in the first two games.. they've played as individuals since then... poop.
 
These are three of the worst teams I've ever seen in a world cup final (ie Brazil plus tonight's two).

I think what we're seeing is a democratisation of footballing talent...the traditionally poor and average teams have come on massively, while the top teams are now distinctly average.
 
Argentina are defending super super deep and harrying the Dutch when they get anywhere over the half way line. Good tactics but this is a dull game.
 
Crowd getting excited whenever a team gets more than half way into someones half says all you need to know about this match... who do we fancy to win on pens then?
 
Argentina are nipping at the heels and giving the Dutch players a nudge from behind every time.
 
So many games since the group stage have been so poor they've brought back the "did he score or not" goal nets just to add some excitement.

Another truly brilliant set piece that was not at all wasted. A minute before that Sneijder gets the ball wide with two guys in the box so he cuts back, passes back, Kuyt gets it, who cuts back and passes about 20 yards further back....... predictable, boring, rubbish.
 
Whilst I'd prefer the Dutch to progress I'll be happy for either to go through if they would just hurry up and do it within 90 minutes
 
Holland need some 1 on 1 skills. I'm a fan of keeping the ball close and short passes but 1 Argentinian player running at a Dutch and the ball goes back to their own half.

99% just Kuyt and Sneijder, they do it 95% of the time, problem is they are the link between midfield and attack, so almost every attack involves one of them, and almost every time the kill the attack completely.
