FIFA World Cup 2018 - GROUP G [Belgium, Panama, Tunisia, England - 18/23/24/28 June] **spoilers**

Is anyone actually watching the games?

Belgium vs England is not clear cut and if you base the prediction solely on the games in this tournament then England is most likely to win.

Belgium have been fortunate in decisions being made by officials whereas England have not. The Tunisia vs England score line does not reflect the game at all. Soft penalty given to Tunisia while two definite penalties were let slide for England.

England should be top of the group, not just through yellow cards but through points.

They are a young team with unknown potential who are so far playing better than an England side has done for 12 years. They have a plan and they are enjoying themselves. The chemistry is there and they have the ability and freedom to play as well as they can.

If they keep this momentum and growth in confidence/experience then I think we are in for a treat when watching future games.

Don’t write them off against anyone, especially Belgium. England have proven themselves a team to beat at the moment.

I just hope the hell Sterling isn't playing and Walker really needs to improve his game, seems to turn off and has been really sloppy with his passes.
 
Well they clearly would when you see the draw. I would rather see them win and take the momentum forward but losing and not facing a truly class side until the semis would appeal to both Belgium and England.
 
England often struggle against teams that are boring, limited but well organised. We did in the Euros for sure. We don't know how to break teams down who defend well and hope to steal a goal because defensively we are prone to mistakes and in the final third we are a bit devoid of creativity. It would be nice if Sterling started performing for that reason but at least Lingard is in form at the moment.
 
So, what do we think lads? Should we throw the game tonight so we lose and get an easier route to the final?

Is there any shame in doing that? I mean they wont be morally wrecked if that's what they decided to do, it's a strategy after all, I guess the problem happens if Belgium come out with the same mindset.
 
I want us to win, regardless of whatever route it gives us.

There's no guarantee we'll even get through the next round, so stop worrying about playing Brazil or not. Play well, get some form, beat the best teams, win the prize.
 
No, we should be trying to win.

What would you say to the players, would totally demotivate them. Rest a few players at most, give some of the fringe ones some game time, give Rose a game.

Why would it demotivate them? It's a game of tactics at the end of the day. Naturally I would want to win, but I would also be looking at possible easier roots to the final.

Certainly an interesting discussion point.

World cup is all about momentum. We should look to batter them :P

Yeah phil Jones, we dont really want to win so I am going to play you today. :p

I expect he will keep most of the team the same and give a few other players a run out. :)

Your signature is appropriate today. We have been watching the footy on a spare iMac and watching movies in between while boss is on holiday. Watched Fistful of Dollars yesterday, now doing For a Few Dollars more, last one later. :p
