FIFA World Cup 2022 Final + Play-off ** spoilers ** [17th - 18th December 2022]

I see your point and yea Utd have to shoulder SOME of the blame but ultimately Ronaldo was in the wrong, Utd dealt with it and now we move on.

On what premise do you know that is the case especially in bold that ManU had prior knowledge of him doing a dirty on the club some 2yr after signing on for united?
The fact that he's been a tart his entire career

I'm fairly sure I'm not the only one that's said this re Ronaldo. Many people said it when he signed, including many Utd fans.

And that's all I said.

I am not sure a dessert is an accurate way of describing him. He might be seen as delicious by some ladies and/or blokes. But tart isn’t accurate. Care to expand on that?

He s definitely got a big ego and runs dressing room and can influence the squad in good or bad ways. And certainly not liked by every player if that is what you meant, then that pretty much most elite footballers.

I don't really want to expand on it, no. I thought a tart is the perfect way to describe him. I think this discussion has run its course too.

Not quite you said
Of course it's true. Utd knew what they were buying and expecting to buy (or keep) Ronaldo as a bit part player was always destined for disaster. It would be like me buying a wild lion and expecting him to be a pet cat, and then blaming him when he bit my arm off.

Utd bought Ronaldo but couldn't figure out how to use him successfully and it ended up a mess.
We bought him to the delight of the vast majority of the United faithful. He had a successful first season despite our issues.

End of the season ETH came in and before the season had started Ronaldo effectively made his position almost untenable. That’s not a United thing or ETH’s inability to be able to use him. That’s a Ronaldo thing so he had to go. Such is life and yes anyone that isn’t a United fan obviously thinks that’s funny. That’s football. :D

That was me expanding on the point :p

You’re very one sided in your view point rather than accepting that a lot factors came into play. Ultimately iRonaldo is at fault.
Ah I really don't want to keep debating this but I never commented on other factors, not because they didn't exist but because the objection to my initial post was about Utd's part in the mess. My initial post that sparked all this does acknowledge both Ronaldo and Utd's part in this though. Both parties are to blame for the mess that followed.

Yes but Ronaldo shoulders the largest part is what you failed to convey.

I think the reality is -

Ronaldo wanted to leave to play in the CL, but didn't have any offers outside of the Saudi league.

ETH wanted him to leave, knowing he would be a major problem and wouldn't fit his system - which was correct.

The Glazers wanted him to stay for commercial reasons.

My big issue with Ronaldo is the fact he attacked ETH as well as the Glazers. ETH gave him numerous chances and he was complete garbage almost every time.

I didn't proportion blame, I simply said both and you may disagree but I do actually think Utd shoulder more of the blame as they should have known the outcome. We all did, exept a few Utd fans hoping that the love rat that done the dirty on every women he's been with was suddenly a changed man because he really loved Utd :p

Anyway the World Cup final..... from somebody that despises international football that was a cracking last 30 + extra time. For Mbappe to star while Messi took the trophy also seemed quite fitting - its the cherry on the cake for Messi's career but we also saw the changing of the guard with Mbappe proving that he's the best player around these days.

No one knew what would happen. He had a good season then we had a new permanent manager who decided we were going to go a different way. Events transpired the way they did we saw a small portion of what happened as we always do and that’s that.

Ronaldo was fantastic last year but only because United changed the entire way they played to suit him. I didn't rate Ole but he had them playing counter attacking football and that died the second Ronaldo walked through the door and stood still on the pitch. Without movement upfront, Bruno's form also went south so while I can understand people saying Ronaldo was good, it came at the detriment of the team and everyone else invloved with United.

....Great that Messi finally got his WC as well. Absolute joy to watch. The epitome of artistry in football. You have to admire the clinical nature of the likes of Ronaldo and Lewandowski etc but I watch football for the flair and the moments of pure brilliance and no one has ever been as good at those moments as Messi. GOAT.
Well said! The player I grew up loving for epitomizing that artistry in football was Kenny Daglish, irrespective of the fact that I was a Liverpool fan long before he arrived, he was just a supreme joy to watch. Then came Maradona and after that Zidane and Ronaldinho.

Messi has carried on that tradition and it has been a pleasure to watch him play for all these years.

Does baz need banning

Some have suggested he has got power hungry and Liverpools good form over the past few years has gone to his head. Rumours swirl that hes been drinking more than usual and sending United fans topless pictures of Alisson late at night.

You asked for those pictures! You saw him with the big fish and kept asking for more and more.
