FIFA World Cup 2022 Group B ** spoilers ** (England, Iran, USA, Wales)

The statistics over the last 8 England games are pretty horrendous. And it epitomises Southgates approach.

Played 8, won 1.
Scored 10 conceeded 12, 6 of ours scored were in 1 game Vs Iran. Went 400+ minutes without a goal for a period.

Our team is being held back on a leash by a inept manager. There's no hiding from it really, a natural born loser, doesn't have a winners mentality at all.

I wouldn't be surprised for us to play a back 5 with 2 CDM against Wales and get a draw to ensure qualification. Grim.

Totally drab manager, looks as inspiring as a piece of soggy toast.
It honestly makes me wonder how he can inspire and encourage his players in the dressing room at half time. Imagine being 2-0 down to someone like France or Spain and Gareth needs to make a change or two and hype his players up for a big comeback in the second half? I honestly don’t believe he could.

xG was 0.91 to 0.94. It was pretty even.
I wish people would stop with this xG *****, we had maybe 1 good opportunity to score and were very poor after the first 15 mins, the USA had at least 3 very good opportunities and on another day would have scored all 3, we couldn’t have whinged if we lost 3-0 as the USA were superior for at least 70-75 minutes

Yeah don't let stats get in the way of a good rant

Is any point i made incorrect? Was the USA the better side, did the USA have the better/more opportunities to score, was England‘s play slow, ponderous, lacking energy and cutting edge. We had over 500 passes and I bet half of those were between the back 5

Do you have any stats to support your arguments or are you just passionate because you're angry?

England played the higher level football technically but plagued with silly errors - switched off far too much, often minimal effort, while the US largely kept disciplined, played with energy and to an extent creativity, not a huge amount but much more than England did.

I'd like to say the England team were playing it strategically and trying to avoid injury or over-exerting themselves too early in the tournament and/or trying to game the opponents they face and/or trying to use the safest route out the group but reality is it was just boring uninspired football with little passion and a horrible, at time cynical, management style.

look at the opportunities the USA had, it’s only because of the poor USA finishing that we got anything out of last nights game. If you think that’s an acceptable performance you’re in for a shock when we get knocked in the first knockout stage.

So no then? And it's clearly not poor finishing is it because otherwise their xG would be higher :D

Also nowhere did I say it was an acceptable performance.

Bet the USA were looking and thinking WTF are they doing, trying to make up for bottling wear the rainbow armband
Southgates an absolute idiot

Why they taking the knee when it was invented by a disgraced movement? that was basically like a justgiving scam

I think the most important part of England is the continuation of political gestures. That is what they should do more of, it is about time we get rid of this toxic mentality of "winning".

So happy all the England team are carrying the mantle for all the opressed around the world, real winners in my eyes.
