FIFA World Cup 2022 Group B ** spoilers ** (England, Iran, USA, Wales)

Kane is far too deep all game, we're just relying on Saka to beat his man when he's always outnumbered as Sterling and Mount are no threat down the left. To be fair even Saka was poor second half but the subs did nothing to change the game when the whole game plan is off.

Gareth doesn't use subs to change the game, that's kind of the problem. He was playing seemingly for 0-0 and was using subs to maintain that score. That won't work against a team that is actually good, for example France

gutted my home country lost to iran. they may as well fly home already.

watched England and felt like they gave it about 85%, maybe long-term strategy looking ahead to the big game VS holland / ecuador

If we play France or Brazil we're going to get absolutely destroyed. What is Gareth's strategy going to be then?
Southgate will just want to keep the score down as he can then say we just lost to a better team and pick up his 10million payoff after the tournament.

So here's what I think happened tonight.

After England's 6-2 win over Iran Southgate was really upset that we conceded 2 goals so he spent the next 4 days sucking all the positivity out of the players and told them for this game to keep it tight and not take any risks as a draw would almost certainly be enough.

So why did Gareth decide to not bring him on tonight? What is the logic? He's one of the best young talents the team have got

He is scared to lose. Bringing Henderson on as your first sub said it all.

Losers mentality. You think France and Brazil will play not to lose and our squad is easily as good as theirs? I don't think so.

You also think the players do not see in the media what we see? Obviously they do and they start to see Southgate for who he really is.

France or Brazil wouldn't have Foden and TAA wasted on the bench. Let's see how we setup against Wales as we need lose 4-0 to get knocked out.

I think thats a little harsh on Henderson. From what ive read England were being dominated in midfield and Bellingham was struggling. Henderson isnt a DM, sounded to me that he was brought on for legs and for England to gain control back. USA didnt look to have a sniff after Henderson came on.

As for Foden and TAA, completely agree. We are dealing with potentially 2 generational talents and neither have got a look in this world cup..

Struggling for creativity in a game, leaves Foden on the bench, takes off Saka and brings on Henderson. Leaves on Mount, who loses the ball constantly and only ever shoots directly at the keeper. Southgate suspect tactically again.

The whole nation had the same nightmare, sadly that’s the reality we all had to endure for the best part of 2 hours. At least the ref didn’t add 20 minutes of added on time, he was the true motm for that.

At least we make it to the knock out stage where Southgate can show his tactical masterclass once again, go 1 up sit back and lose. Can’t wait for that.

I am not disregarding Hendo. He is a beast but you can see Southgates thinking by bringing him on. If we're pressing high with Foden and TTA we wouldn't have been dominated in MF.

Shaw was our only outlet last night and was easy for USA to squander but if added TTA to the mix they would have instantly been stretched.

Thankfully all these players are incredibly young so hopefully will get their chance under a new manager in the next WC.

Not the worst theory I’ve read on the subject.

Hope they were or will be arrested once identified and locked up for a long time in Qatar. Lock up Southgate for impersonating a manager while they're at it.
