I'd say he has done about par. Ultimately haven't beaten a top side in a knockout tournament. Definitely capable of it as was shown today.

England played about as well as I've seen in a knockout game vs a good team to be honest. That was a 50-50 game in my mind with both teams edging one half. Just a little bit of luck swings it either way.

The ref was pretty lol though.

We haven't won a single game with him against top opposition in tournament football. You could argue Germany but they have been poor for a while.

Our current record is losses to Belgium X2, Italy and now France. You could also add losing to Holland in the nation's league Semi.

You have to go back to Euro 1996 where we actually beat anyone good (twice)!

Aye. Really positive throughout which ironically is what all the Southgate out crowd wanted and we still lost. Its almost as though international football is really, really difficult.

Yeah I don’t feel as bad as when we lost to Italy. I do think it’s time for a change though, Southgate has done well tbh, but he always lack nous in the big games against the big sides. France were lucky tonight, had very few chances but were clinical. Ref was terrible.

you have to wonder though. if that second penalty had been given immediately - as it should have been - maybe Kane having waited less long nets it. I know we always whinge when we lose but that ref didn't seem to want to give anything to England if he could avoid it.
 
Well I don't think we played badly tbh.

Ref was shocking all match, didn't get sterling sub tbf but all in all okay.

Be France and Argentina final I suspect but would love em both to lose and see a Croatia and morroco final
 
We lost, but played well.

FAR better than previous years efforts.

Southgate and his team can hold their heads up.

Looking forward to the Cricket tomorrow!
 
Think England need a new man in charge.

Some awsome young talent that will be around for quite a few years.

He does play tournament friendly football but is that enough?

Subs were baffling.
 
Yeah it was one of those matches. No favours from the ref, a few chances, a missed pen. Twas a footy match.

Can't be too bothered, it's just a weird world cup.
