Oh, and regarding your bit of trivia, Van Damme quit after two days as he was unhappy with being cast as an uncredited special effect, the alien was then redesigned, and recast, and played by Kevin peter Hall..

Yes he was originally going for the lead part as in the book it ends in a martial art fight with the Predator.

I also found Colins a bit unfunny.

Why? Do you usually like him? He wasnt being himself last night, but I guess thats because he wanted to try and get some good footage without annoying him as you know how A-List Celebs are to say no and do a runner.

Or you just plain dont like JLC :p?

I usually like the guy, like you said he didn't seem himself. He seemed a bit uncomfortable?

What is with him and covering his lap every time he sits down?
To hide the penis?

Did you actually go and look? The other one should be okay - the style is usually very, very regimented.

The Sarum 76 (the second one) I did, I sat in on part of a class and spoke to the instructor, John.

There is another one I want to go to that has been recommended by my trainer in Harnham Salisbury.

Ki Aikidio with Steve Walker. My trainer thinks that would complement my return to Karate training. So I'm going to have a look on Monday.

I don't know what Ki Aikidio is exactly.

There is also the Ken Shin Kai dojo to look at also.

Seagal for me every time. JCVD has all the moves but absurdly telegraphs them.

I recall an old pro-boxer, just can’t remember his name, who demonstrated this once when they met and were interviewed together. The boxer asked JCVD to throw a punch at him whenever he was ready. The boxer stood with his arms low, almost at his sides. JCVD threw one and the boxer blocked it with ease and jabbed JCVD back on the nose. JCVD complimented the old guy and said he was very good. The old guy said that he was now much slower than in his youth but that JCVD had given him a lifetime to react. The reason that he’s managed to block was, he said, that JCVD is one of those guys who drops his shoulder a fraction before taking his shot. This gave the old guy an age within which to react. I’ve seen JCVD movies since and sure as hell you can see shots being telegraphed almost every single time, although this may be as part of the choreography of movie fight scenes. But it certainly wasn’t when JCVD and the old-pro met. The look on the face of JCVD told that.

Can't remember whether it was in this thread or another in SA but someone mentioned that weight can be a huge fact to which I replied "not if you know Jiu Jitsu".

I'm surprised by how little Akebono offered there, I'd have thought as a sumo he'd manage a bit better. He should be capable of much more than what was effectively just falling on Royce Gracie and hoping his weight advantage did the rest. I don't know if the gloves or rules were disadvantaging him but that just looked a bit odd.

I was watching Mercenary of Justice yesterday night and thought of this thread - it's a pretty rubbish film in case anyone cares, not a patch on Out For Justice.

<biased />Sweet baby Jesus, avoid Ki Aikido. The club could be exception (I've found a few :))- and you should check if you're free, but Ki Aikido clubs tend to be very soft and unpractical (?). It's, in my opinion, not really Aikido. BUT it does depend what you want to do. I've found quite a bit of Ki Aikido classes are spent doing 'exercises' (breathing etc.)

lolwut:

I would place more faith in the Ken Shin Kai school, but I've not been there, or to the Ki school :).

Seagal is Aikido fighting expert I think? but JCVD (Jean-Claude Van Damme) is Karate and kickboxing expert and younger and in much better shape as we saw in his last film named "JCVD" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1130988/ which I thought was really good.

Seagal is old and quite fat now, have you seen him on his cop series? Coz most people dont know but he's a police officer as well as a movie star in America.

I think what made me think of this was that read on a website somewhere that seagal and JCVD were almost in a fight at one of their houses? There's prob some news articles on it somewhere...

...Just did a quick search and found a youtube interview with a reporter talking to JCVD about it: link removed as it contains swearing.

Also a bit of trivia for you here but most people also dont know that JCVD was the guy inside the predator suit in the original Predator movie, which I think is is totally cool and awesome http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0093773/.

Coz that means the final scene was Arnold Vs JCVD!! haha:D

Segal of course. :D

Van Damme is just a commercial hollywood fighter.
