Photoshop him into this picture, and you have the outcome :)

I'd want to cover all bases (striking, grappling, groundwork) then do MMA afterwards. Rather than start with MMA.

The thing is it's actually better to learn them all together, as it's the linking them all together that is the hardest part to achieve.

I actually did Judo before MMA, I'm a Brown belt and i'm still training to get my Black. Most people do start somewhere else then jump over to MMA.

The thing is MMA has rules, I was taught that there are none.

Each style/art has it's place, but in a true street fight, if you can't get away then stay upright, keep your distance, make them attack you, and finish it as soon as possible.

If you can put them down pre-emptively do it, otherwise the above applies.

Dismissing Aikido or Karate or any martial art singularly is a little disingenuous because anyone trained in true unarmed combat (not just competition/pretend) will use various styles/arts and techniques.

The objective is to win, quickly and as painlessly (for you) as possible. Some Aikido techniques look pretty useful to me.

The same could be said in reverse too. Put an MMA only trained fighter in a Jiu Jitsu competition (with gi etc) they would get pwned.

Was that Tony (Toney?) above? Blatantly only did it for the pay cheque, he never stood a chance.

Toney vs Randy, a 46 year old, not a prime of life HW champion of the world

You can see after he puts one down he goes straight to stamp on the nuts an stops halfway though as he remembers it's a demo :D

Aye, it's not the MMA pretend stuff. That is a demonstration, in training he would have followed through, it teaches you not to lose or at least not to end up on the floor somewhere that MMA proponents seem to spend most of there time.:p

It's easy to say don't end up on the floor, doing that on the other hand when someone is determined to put you down is another thing ;)
