Filtering

I am genuinely surprised he hasn't had a collision (apparently) at the speed and rate that he filters at and how often he does it!

Are London commuters just more aware of bikers filtering and take more care to look out for them??

I doubt it he's just been lucky, in my experience London commuters are flipping dangerous!

God no! They're far better on the continent, with people regularly pulling over to let you though.

That means they've seen you which is more than I can say for 99% of the UK population.

Lots of people in the UK hate it that you are getting somewhere faster than them.

Mmm just yesterday I slotted in between 2 stationary cars, later down the road the guy behind ended up in front of me and made it more difficult for me to get to the front at traffic lights, why are people so bothered when we aren't even moving?

Petty, small minded individuals. Some people still think filtering is illegal. Well the countless police cars I've filtered past don't think it is! :D

Of course the ignorant ones just see it as though we're 'pushing' to the front, when in fact we're helping to decrease traffic, making their journey more tolerable. The 2-60 seconds we're in their life for makes no difference to their journey whatsoever. Some woman the other day nearly hit the car in front of her (inches away) because she was so intent on not letting me in. Not 30 seconds later I passed her.:confused:

What grinds my gears when people dont know how to use a merge in turn at roadworks. People sit in the one lane backing up traffic. Or the biggest numskulls are the people that sit in the middle of the road blocking off people using the road system properly. On my bike I have had one person weave 'trying' to block me. They then tried to chase me until I turned off about a 1/4 of a mile down the road just before the merge in turn. At least it freed up the lane so that people could use the dual carriageway.

i think the loud bike and constant blipping of the throttle helps a lot.

A loud exhaust makes filtering so much safer in my experience. People say you can't hear an exhaust from a bike coming from behind, definitely not true.
I argued this with some friends a lot, so we tried it. Sat in a diesel C-Class Mercedes at 20mph with the radio on a bit louder than normal, you could not hear a 30mph Victory 8-Ball with straight-through pipes coming by until it was almost right off the back corner. Certainly by the time your reactions kick in, it's already gone past, which means it's way too late.

Loud pipes can help sometimes and they're louder than pathetic bike horns, but they should not be relied upon in any way.

Not really.
Commuters in general travel the same routes every day, so have come to expect bikes to be filtering at certain points. This is about half of all roads in London, probably, so it just seems like it.
The only traffic in London I have 'issues' with are the bully-boy busses who just throw on indicators and go for it, because they have the size advantage... and dumb-**** office girlies on their pink scooter who think they're bikers and can ride - How they passed their tests, I'll never know!!

A merc probably isn't the best car for trying that, they're normally very well insulated from outside sound. Try it again in a ford fiesta or something more run of the mill and it might be a different story.

Sitting in the back of a 2011 Audi A3 a few months back on the m25, I could hear/feel a panigale filtering before it passed - loud pipes do make cars more aware of your presence. Of course some are completely oblivious to anything thats going on around the, these drivers are beyond help :D

Im seeing more and more mercs with some sort of blind spot detection on the wing mirrors? As i pass an orange led appears on the mirror and a rather bewildered driver peers to his right to see me pass
