The plot is paper thin ... all the "drama" and hard hitting aspects are delivered within the first 2 hours of gameplay. From that point onward the plot is decidely drab, one paced and depressing in tone. Also, the "hack & slash" isn't very good ... as a few others have commented it's a Devil May Care lite. There is zero depth to the combat. Just spam the attack button the whole game ( it also serves as parry / riposte ).

I’m sure you’re probably right, but it is kind of endearing.

Perhaps sometimes you just have to make your own mistakes.
 
Forgot this actually existed, judging by the reviews here I will probably not bother any further than the demo. Its a shame they cant quite crack the formula to replicate the quality of old.

SquareEnix still makes plenty of turn based games. Only that they are no longer called Final Fantasy. Bravely Default series for example.

This. With the Final Fantasy series, SquareEnix, by their own admission, are trying to cater to a "modern" audience - read as the niche minority that play FF14 MMO. And that's why the sales for FF16 and the FF7 remakes have capped out at around the 4-5 million mark, as opposed to the 10+ million sales when the series had a more mainstream appeal.
 
Excited as it is final fantasy, but not as much of a fan of the newer ones. Would rather more turn based.

Wonder how it will run on my Vega56, think I may need to upgrade this to play it
 
Hope they sort out the performance, I played this on the ps5 and loved it. Easily the best Final Fantasy since 10 when not counting the 7 remakes imo.
 
Played and completed it on PS5 including doing all the marks ..... i got in to it eventually but was definitely a slow burner and took me a few weeks to start enjoying. Kept it at 30FPS on PS5 otherwise it looked terrible and wasn't a locked 60 in performance mode when released but obviously don't have that issue on PC and it does indeed run a hell of a lot better and looks better as well. I will buy it again for PC but only once its had a decent discount applied as in no rush to replay currently .... Im still struggling to finish Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth as again 30FPS mode doesn't exactly make me want to jump in and the 60 isn't perfect either :o

**** all tbh. I conclude from the demo though that I may get the game when it's £9.99. I've played and finished every mainline FF title, I just don't have a need to look at this one any time soon.

Yeah, similar conclusion. Will grab it when it goes on deep discount in the future.

I do want to play it. Will have to be for when I don't have much else I fancy playing or when on a big sale. Probably the latter as I almost always have something I want to play.
 
I know this won't live up to my lowered expectations, yet I still find myself wanting buy and play it :cry:

I will however still wait at least until xmas and get it on offer. By then at least Noxia will have done some beta testing for me :D

Your grandad? Mine has been dead for like 40 years now and he died in his 80's and the other one not to far of that :cry:

Massive gamer, he finished Elden ring a few months back and played all the final fantasy games and finished rebirth not long ago. I've posted pictures up on here of him playing games, he's 82.

Edit: I'm 38.
