Final Fantasy Series... Play them all?

6 looks to be a must play also from reviews... I still find that the graphics are more than acceptable on many of the 16bit games of this style.

There's far too many good old games around that I need to play. Saves paying loads for the new ones though!

Haha, just destroying the first boss after some unnecessary level grinding...
"I, Garland, will knock you all down"

Can't beat those kind of translations.

Which of the Final Fantasy games are on the PSN store?

I'm thinking of picking up a ps3 and this will help clinch the deal.

(7, 8 and 9 are what I'm looking for mostly).

7, 8 and 9 are all on PSN if I remember right.

I'm loving 1 right now, just got the 2nd crystal yesterday. Life is infinitely easier with the canoe... :)
Hoping to have got it sorted by end of next week. I do want to move to the second one immediately after but I can imagine me playing through VII first...

Yep, VII, VIII and IX are the ones there.

The U.S PSN store also has the original Final Fantasy Tactics, which was never released in Europe. Not sure if the much better PSP remake is available for either stores though, that is if you have a PSP anyways.

It is also better to get the U.S versions of these games since they run at a faster framerate, due to the whole NTSC 60Hz and PAL 50Hz thing, via pre-paid U.S PSN cards.

How about 200fps on epsxe? ;)

The games look a lot better on epsxe which renders them at a higher resolution, than on the ps3 which only upscales the game. Plus the speedboost is great for leveling and other badly thought out repetitive parts of games, eg chocobo forest, ugh.

I am fully aware of what these emulators on the PC are capable of, afterall I use them myself.

The point I am making is what was the use of mentioning them, when what was only asked was which games were available on the PSN stores for the PS3, and I gave a little insight on which version was better for "this platform only".

It seems like you just want any given opportunity to talk about the emulators, which tend to get into the legality subject of it, especially when people want to buy these games again.

With regards to FF1, an emulator just would not cut it.
Since I am old enough to have owned the NES near the end of its run, I can just about cope with the graphics and sound but... The PSP version is just great to look at, sound is decent and there's the added awesome of portability. (Although that seems to only extend to bed, desk, work)

I've got VII for the PSP also but I feel it won't seem as good on the small screen. Might still keep an eye on the bay for a PS1 copy.
Those cutscenes would be more at home on the big screen. :(

For a lot of the old games, emulators are the only way.

The cut-scenes hold up worst IMO, even emulators can't help them :( I really liked playing FF7 on my PSP, the small, bright screen really rocks with the detailed backgrounds.

There are loads of FF7's on the bay / other places, the platinum copies shouldn't be too expensive.
