Final Fantasy Series... Play them all?

Bit of a revival on this thread, I'd put this game down for a good while, distracted by other games and life happenings...
Picked it up again tonight and worked through the Chaos Shrine, on to the end boss.

<insert rage>
As soon as I'd lost my Ninja who had been casting Saber on himself loads to bring each attack in at 900-1000HP ~15/20 minutes in, I knew life had just been made worse.
30 minutes of pain and dragged out suffering later, my parties demise.
He can heal for 9999HP!!!

I really thought I'd levelled myself up very well for this, but I feel I may have taken the wrong equipment.
Still haven't even started the second game as I need this out the way first.
Curse you Chaos!!! CURSE YOOOOOOOOUUU!

Loved the 7th one on ps1, those were the days, played it on pc years ago not so enjoyable since gfx changed so much, 8th one also tried, didnt get into. Played 13 on xbox360, didnt finish, altho on disc3 now, a so so game

Sat down tonight with a cup of tea to finish the first game.
My last strategy was nothing short of retarded, using 1 decent attacker and an offensive spellcaster. Tonight's worked much better.
Using temper on both tanks each time but continually attacking, using no offensive spells and healing the party each turn, it was over in about 5 minutes... :D

Time to move to FF II...

I get confused by the numbering system, was 6 here, really number 4?
Noticed 4 is out on PSP now, it will probably be purchased once I'm through ff ii, gets quite good reviews.

So would you advise against getting the third one for the DS? (Think its DS, maybe GBA...)
Its another game that's on the list of "buy that if you see it for decent price" games.

Decent price, it's like what £3 on ebay?

I had it on the DS and it's quite mediocre honestly, story line is particularly terrible, so clichéd, 4 warriors of light to restore balance or some inane drivel like that, not at all comparable to ff6-10.

Never realised the 4th one was on the DS though, might consider getting that.

You'll struggle to play FF7 nowadays to be honest, the graphics and controls are hard to deal with, they haven't aged well.

Not true, its fine to play.
Gfx aren't much but the controls are perferctly acceptable

The most simplest and really, a cheating way of doing it, use Cait Sith and his Slot Limit Break, and then try to get his face. Kills everything instantly including bosses.

Some other methods would require Knights of the Round, or just use Cloud by himself and Omnislash the hell out of them along with the Mime Materia. I find that it is quick and it doesn't use any MP at all. :p

Just started playing Final Fantasy 12 again, I still love this game even though I know its seen as a retarded cousin by many fans.

Just off on my first hunt for the Rogue Tomato through the eastgate in Rabanastre. So I'm VERY early in the game :D Yay!

VI onwards really, they are all varying degrees of awesome.

Except X-2 and XII of course. They are both festering piles of excrement served atop a bed of broken promises.

VI to X would be a better way of putting it because XIII was a travesty also, far worse than X-2 and XII.

How the hell did you beat Emerald & Ruby weapon?

Those damn beasts are the bain of my FF life.

A good tactic is to get a Gold Chocobo.

Get Knights of the Round and mime materia, and W summon!
Spam away!

Might as well go make yourself a sandwich or 2 while you wait for it to complete.

For Ruby, kill 2 of your party members before. Quickly use Pheonix summon and then use KoR and spam away.
For some reason normal attacks don't do much damage, so omni slash was pointless

You see I tried all the tactics available a year or two ago when I retried to kill the weapons, but I got owned everytime!

Was never able to get a continuous chain of KoTR going.

I enjoyed Final Fantasy XII just because it was different. Some things annoyed me about it like Espers/Summons being completely useless and the story not being that good, but other then that I quite enjoyed it.

I would like to play the Zodiac Job System version, but it only got released in Japan and I wouldn't be able to understand any of it.
