Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade - Now on Steam & Epic Games

But you cannot deny that Midgar is a tiny portion of the original 1997 release.

When we both compare it to the original of course you're right. Obviously I understand we both see this from different perspectives and when the game was first announced in at least 3 parts the overwhelming majority were unhappy with this including me. I had the same take as you.

But then we had the reasons why, and for me personally when I was a kid I use to think of the original and wish they fleshed out Zacks story or had more content after you saw the video of Cloud and Zack escape Nibelheim or added more to here and there and so much more. With Remake we had the Yuffie DLC that did exactly that, and remake expanded on so much more, Biggs, Wedge and Jessie you care much more about in remake compared to the original due to this.

I guess what I'm saying, is that you should play through it yourself, you might feel differently. I'm not saying you won't fundamentally change your mind, but I do think you'll appreciate some of remake.

A youtube channel called Final Fantasy Union recently polled it's viewers asking if they would rather the parts come out sooner or wait longer for Squaresoft to fully flesh out the next instalments, over 80% would prefer we get more content whilst waiting longer. Remake really has some great things, as well as bad some of which you've mentioned. It's not perfect for a number of reasons, but it excels in other areas.

Slightly off topic but here's a video that covers everything up until recently about Final Fantasy Remake part 2. A good watch if you're interested.

I don't want to pay £70 for this, but FFVII is my favourite game, I feel I won't be able to resist come the 16th.

If the x-mas sale starts on Thursday we should get a £10 coupon. There's also been a lot of criticism in some media over the price so it might be adjusted on Thursday.

Considering it's a trilogy, I think £30 would have been just about right, but, let's be honest, they were never going to sell it for just that.

I bought the Deluxe edition for the PS4 then Intermission for the PS5 so there was no chance of me buying the Epic Games version. I have all my FF games on Steam and the modding community among a few other reasons is why I'll wait for a steam copy. I've bought 2-3 things from Epic before but I really don't want 1 of my copies on another platform for this series.

I don't mind it being in parts myself since we get so much more game if we compare it to the original, but it's already been discussed here how people don't like not having the entire story in 1 release.

I feel the same, i'd put FF7 in my top three games ever. But I just won't pay that, nor will I create an Epic account. Another game that is in my top three games ever is Doom (2016), and I dropped £50 on Eternal on launch day assuming that it'd be more of the same. But I hate the new gameplay tweaks in Eternal and i've spent a total of five hours on it since, trying to force myself to like it but just ending up resenting it more.

That was an expensive lesson, but it taught me that just being FF7 isn't enough to make Intergarde abandon my principles.

TBF if you haven't seen or played Remake £60 isn't a bad price. You get the base game plus the DLC that was £15 separately. It also includes all the other odd bits of DLC from the console that was exclusive to the Deluxe edition and some other promos.

but seems like the PC version is hella borked according to Alex:

Uh, I guess they haven't seen the Battlefield game, or Cyberpunk or ... you get what I'm going.

The lack of settings and ultrawide are pretty awful by todays standards but I wouldn't say it's one of the worst. Certainly isn't great either.

Its Alexander Battaglia so he's seen and covered it all. The issues of settings/ultrawide are the least offenders when it seemingly cant hold a stable 60fps at 1080p

Yeah I've checked out a few people streaming and they have mentioned the fps dropping under certain conditions. I don't think that and the lack of settings put it anywhere near as bad as some of the games I mentioned. It goes without saying because I know people won't read the thread but I'm not saying this is OK, it needs fixed.

Hopefully when the steam release comes around the beta testers will have fixed it.;):p

Only a handful of hours into it so far but set the fps to 120 in game and it's been steady according to afterburner with a 3080. I wouldn't say it's running "well" though going off the utilisation. I've seen some tiny drops but it's felt smooth while playing.

There's a known issue with the FPS, hopefully a fix is released soon.

According to Digital Foundry, simply running in DX11 mode solves most performance issues

There's also a few mods that have tried to fix it and whilst it hasn't completely removed the fps issue it has improved it significantly. There's also an ultrawide mod that makes an OK attempt at support.

Their all listed here

For that price, you shouldn't have to mod a game released in 2021 to run on Ultrawide.

Unfortunately Square have a terrible reputation in recent years for PC ports.

Hoping they fix it in the new year and especially before the steam release.

A year. But it has been 6-7 months already I think? So should be out by end of the year. I will be waiting, not like I have a lack of games to play and already played it on release on a PS4 Pro.

Same. December can't roll round fast enough.

Remake part 2 news next month too.
