*** Final Fantasy XIII ***

Yep, thats no coincidence, the likelyhood you get rarer drops is higher with higher ratings, and also your TP gauge fills quicker the higher your rating.

Don't really see what the problem is with this... it helps you know if you are on the right track with your battles, i.e. if your rating is 0/1 stars you know you need to reconsider your battle tactics!

That's fine, I guess I misunderstood (or jumped to conclusions). It sounded briefly like a scoring system only, which I find abhorrent.

Upgrading weapons and getting ultimate weapons can best be done later in the game when you can get a lot of Gil to buy the needed parts.

But doesn't that mean that up until chapter 11/12 you have to use crappy weapons and have a hard time?
Also isn't it possible to upgrade Lightnings Gladius slightly ASAP with stuff collected arely on or isn't that needed?

Avoided reading full thread due to spoilers, although I do have a question (not really spoilerish).

When you upgrade your gear, you can select items you've collected which add experience and other bonuses. Other than some hidden bonuses like EXP x1.25 is there any difference between the items? Some items give 42 EXP each, some give 340 EXP each, but other than that I can't seem to find a difference.

Loving the game though, just BC2 has kept me off of it as I keep starting it, playing for a bit then getting the urge to go play BC2 instead.

Personally, I've made a decision early on which weapons to keep and which to trade, I've been selling some newly found weapons for 7000+ gil and trading them for Solid Bones and Turbojets, and using them on weapons through out the game. Im not going to mess around at the end of the game with other weapons.

I currently have Hawkeye, Gladius, Belladonna, Energy Circle, Shamanic Spear and i forget sazh's weapon.

I wont be changing and will be evolving each weapon.

Although after a peek at a certain guide, i may dump the shamanic spear.

Basically some of the lower EXP components will increase the hidden EXP multiplier bonus whereas the high EXP items will decrease it.

For example, 36 Sturdy Bones or Barbed Tail (Which you can easily buy in the shops) will give you the required 3x EXP bonus when you start to upgrade any weapon or accessory for the first time or without a bonus on it. When you use a high EXP component straight afterwards, each one will eventually decrease the hidden bonus back down, hence why when you upgrade using some components, the bonus multipler keeps increasing and decreasing after a certain amount. You have to constantly keep using some of the lower EXP items to increase the bonus again.

Well you get a target time and then your time shown.

very second under the target time you get however much DPS you did in points.

every second over you get that much deducted from a base score of 10,000

high score + high chain bonus = lost of TP refill.

Although scoring 0 stars regularly means you'll get given more deceptisol as the game decides that you suck so need some help to avoid battles :p

yeah i upgraded a lot of stuff with the crap i got from battles or got from selling some of the gear i didn't use.

ok they weren't super high level but it gave a good extra bonus and made things a damn sight easier.

Getting annoyed with the boss on chapter 9... All my characters HP is full with shell/protect etc and the Destructo attack to kills hope and lightning :(

When he starts his animation for Destrudo, change to 3 damage classes and rip on him until he makes a groaning noise, that means his attack will do less damage.

*spoiler*

You can avoid one destructo by summoning an elidion just as the actual attack animation(not charge) starts so you miss it dying the summon animation.

But i just upgraded a gold, bangel with some cheap gear (takes very little) so that it asn an extra 380 hp for lighting.

Also take in 3 ravegers and don't bother with sentinels just attack with com once to start bar then ravager it and stumble him before he can fully charge,

I found trying to defend didn't work in that battle just high damge to quickly kil lthe heads or Rav/com/medic so that two attack while the other constantly heals worked best.

Using a sentinal means that usually 2 people are close together att he back so the large attacks like ruinga/wataga etc do dmg to lots of peoplewith com/rav/med they;re al usually far appart so only one takes dmg and gets healed quick.

*sorry typos in hurry

sorry about the other day guys. i did acturaly send a post appologising and that i would buy an xbox and ff13 if you guys can convince me! but i got banned before i could send the post....haha. but reading this forum the past few days has persuaded me. and i feel like im missing out on something massive! i might buy ma bros xbox off him when it comes back for repair ;p this looks good..

Time and time again, that Versus XIII trailer is the perfect example of how guns are absolute **** and near useless. :D

In Final Fantasy land, whichever game it may be, the sword >>>> the gun. :P

Just make good use of a Sentinel.

I took Light/Snow/Hope

First half of the fight is easy, when he transforms go to Delta attack and let Snow take the beating, use the one that is COM/SEN/MED to heal him up.

When he goes into Guard switch to Tri-Disaster (RAV/RAV/RAV) and drive his Stagger bar up, as soon as he leaves guard (or just before if you can time it right) switch back to COM/SEN/MED and let Snow take it.

Repeat until he's dead.

Cheers for that. I will give it a go later :D

Destrudo... ahh what a pita you were. No use using rav/rav/rav to boost chain, as destrudo resets the guage. Still, med/syn/med as he charges, switch to com/sen/rav as it hits, then switch to med/sen/med, heal, com/rav/rav and have at him, give all +HP acc to Hope & Lightning. Killed in 2. In actual fact, I found the worst part of the fight was getting the git down before doom screwed me.

<Chapter 9 Spoiler>

Did anyone else find this awesome place on their first play through?

On the Palimecia, Theres a section where you pass a save point, And then fight 2 soldiers and a huntress, Followed by 3 soldiers and a huntress, and then 3 soldiers on their own. If you carry on running straight ahead(Turning right carries on with the story) You find yourself in a room with just 3 soldiers and a save point. Killing all the above soldiers and huntresses can give you Insentive Chips and Credit Chips. Aswell as a nice bit of CP. And you can literally just run between the save points and keep it accumalating. I dont want to carry on...I just want to keep running back and forth :D

*edit* Just had a look the places are called the short field landing deck and Crew corridors
